i walked into this music store and i heard 'black or white'--no surprise. but when 'you are not alone' came on after that, i began to get suspicious. and yes, i immediately noticed the album on the counter. another greatest hits compilation. i looked around in the store and there was no sign of ANY promotion for this record. come to think of it, the only place i read about this album is on these boards. strange, right?

Not so strange. I guess Sony feels they pushed too much money into MJ already and just plan to let this thing sell itself (based on word of mouth for the new single, that won't happen). I don't agree with this strategy at all and I thought they really dropped the ball when they never made a video for "Butterlies", a nearly top ten song with no video and no real push by anyone.

Everytime I saw that there won't be any push for this album by MJ or Sony, they mention the Nov 26th CBS special. I watch a little CBS so I might not be the best person to say this but I haven't seen one commerical for it. Is this going to be a live special? Was the last one, come to think of it? I think if there was anything going on, CBS would hype it.

There have been ads on TV to order this cd. Its aimed at people who don't shop in stores - the Home Shopping Network type of people - couch potatoes.
Thats MJ's target fan base these days - couch potatoes.
