appreciation for Sheryl Crow

You know, she's never been one of my favorit artists... but I do like her. She's always there and she's always good. And I never hear people here (or anywhere, really) talk about her much.

I think she's great.

And she gets better sounding and better looking with age.

Anyone agree? If not, how can you not like her?

i'm sure i didn't need to ask that last part, as several people will probably tell us in countless ways how much she sucks, but anyway... there you go.

I've been vaguely considering buying her latest Greatest Hits set cause I heard "All I Wanna" do on in the store and I realised "I like this"...

...but, something makes me stop...don't know what...hmmm. Should I or shouldn't I? I don't know...

I definitely appreciate her. Her singles are always good. She's a good presence on radio. She's been able to ride out the trends and remain fresh. I just got her greatest hits and realized how many songs I love by her. She's a keeper. wink

Definitely gonna get her greatest hits set. Though I've heard that for a full fledged album, "The Globe Sessions" and "Sheryl Crow" were really good discs.

If you are interested in Sheryl Crow maybe you'll also be interested in the tragic story of Kevin Gilbert (hint: strong Sheryl Crow association).

Google will fill in all the blanks.

nod... those are easily her two best discs... classics... not a bad track on either... her other 2 cds are a bit more spotty, but are still overall good albums... and the strong cuts are generally very strong...

Great thread!

I love Sheryl. And she does get better with age.

My favorite albums were her first two, and my favorite songs are probably "All I Wanna Do" and "Ordinary Morning" (that guitar solo is wonderful).

Co-sign. Definitively. I was quite disappointed with "C'mon, c'mon"... the cover alone made me thinking: "Naaah! Please, Sheryl, do not join the commercial mainstream...". But "Safe and Sound" is another great one amongst the new songs.

And she gets another plus sign for working with Wendy, of course. wink

i really hated Soak Up The Sun when it first came out, but it's grown on me a lot. her singles are hit or miss with me. i'll love one, and hate the next one, love the next one, hate the next one... that's how it's been for me for all of her career, but i always like her being around

I've always liked Sheryl and bought her first two CDs but they seem to be collecting dust. I've always liked all her singles, never loved them or hated them, just liked. She is very good.

I remember when I was Junior High School. While everyone else was into the Wu-tang Clan, Blackstreet, and The Fugees, I was that one geek who sang, whistle"All I wanna do, is have some fun...". That was the jam when it came out. Her first album was the one I liked. But then her later stuff got all poppy on me & sh**.

I guess I'm a bigger fan than I thought. I have all her albums, except for the Live one and her Greatest Hits. "Globe Sessions" being my favourite.

yeah, "c'mon" was a bit of a disappointment... it's my least favorite album of hers... the sad thing is that a lot of the songs on that cd are very well written, but they get ruined by overtly glossy and commercial production... the wonderful thing about sheryl crow is that she's always been kinda gritty, and they've polished that away on the last album... so, what would have been great songs, come out as ok... and what would have been ok songs, sound kinda dredful...

you know, i like sheryl but i just forget about her all the time. i have the first two cds and i love them. i like the singles from the cd with 'my favorite mistake' but i've never heard the whole thing and i didn't particularly care for that last song 'soak up the sun'. i guess when it comes down to it, there are so many artists pushing new sounds and experimenting that i forget about those who just like to play. she's a classic, though, and classics never go out of style.

Can't say that I'm a fan, but I saw a commercial for her greatest hits today and thought the compilation was pretty good. It's something I'd consider buying.

It also made me wonder if Sheryl Crow is ever compared to any other artists.
