Let's Just Declare November As Michael Jackson Month... Here's More! This is the latest...
Jackson's New Single Due Out on CD, Vinyl Thu Nov 6,10:33 PM ET Add Entertainment - Reuters to My Yahoo! By Jonathan Cohen NEW YORK (Billboard) - Epic will release on Nov. 25 a five-track CD and 12-inch vinyl single for "One More Chance," the lone new track on Michael Jackson's "Number Ones" album, due Nov. 18. Both the CD and record will feature the original version, Paul Oakenfold mixes and remixes by METRO and Ron G. The original version can be streamed from Jackson's official Web site (http://www.michaeljackson.com), while one of Oakenfold's remixes can be purchased from online download retailer iTunes. The R. Kelly-penned "One More Chance" is No. 45 this week on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. Jackson will star in a Nov. 26 CBS special, the content and format of which have not yet been announced. --- Time to bust out the old VCR to get the recording goin' on!!!  |

i love mj but, really, who cares about another greatest hits release. first there was history. then he cut that into one cd. now he's got this. aren't the hits spoken for already? talk about relying upon past accomplishments. how about getting back to the groundbreaking music, videos and touring for which you're known? | |

this new hits package is completely useless.
they should have released a HIStory Book II, with the following tracklisting, to complement the single-disc version of the HIStory hits album that they've put out: 01. Off The Wall 02. Human Nature 03. PYT 04. Say Say Say (possibly) 05. Another Part Of Me 07. Dirty Diana 08. Smooth Criminal 09. Leave Me Alone 10. In The Closet 11. Jam 12. Who Is It 13. Will You Be There 14. Scream 15. You Are Not Alone 16. Earth Song 17. They Don't Care About Us 18. You Rock My World 19. Butterflies 20. One More Chance trim Say Say Say, Leave Me Alone, and They Don't Care About Us if need be. as it stands, the current release is both utterly useless in repeating tracks from the first one and being woefully incomplete as a retrospective in its own right. I never understood why "History" was so selective, just as "Number Ones" appears to be (as is even noted, not all the songs were number ones and in some cases it might even miss number ones like "Scream"). I don't understand either set very much and while "Number Ones" doesn't look bad, its really going for the very causal fan that only owns "Thriller" or has always wanted an MJ CD but never bothered to get one. And I think the timing couldn't be worse. Is he even promoting it (or is he avoiding the set becuase he this is the end with Sony). I don't think this set will sell very well considering its only promotion seems to come from sites like this and a single that is barely being played on radio (R Kelly appears to be keeping to good songs for himself and Ron Isley). | |

im sure all the grannies that watch the MJ special will run out & buy a copy of his new cd.
Those specials on his child rearing gave his career a big boost. This should send him over the top. Bet this cd breaks all MJ sales records so far. I predict sales over 1 million the first week alone. | |

Maybe, just maybe worldwide sales of a million in the first week but not in the US alone (which is what I thinking you are saying). Not this week..which belong to...Brintey! But then again, I'm a somewhat newer fan (around '98 when I really started buying his stuff) so I'm not as jaded as everyone else either. I have to admit that the "Don't buy TVBOP" thing was kind of nice service. I mean, was it really that great? It was a joke of a collection that stopped after "Money Don't Matter", which was a great song but not half as big of a hit as some of the ones they skipped. It was hastily put together (IMHO) and was waste to real fans that have everything. I guess for a novice it wasn't such a bad thing. How kind of Prince was it to scarfice the royalties he gets so his fans don't get ripped off (by Warners/Rhino, anyway). How I'm actually posting something about Prince! Look at me mom! | |

Look at me mom! i agree with you to a certain extent, as far as the principal goes. but it would have been a pretty good seller, especially if he'd continued the hits runthrough of the Hit & Run tour while it was out. and as proof by the very fact that he was doing a rather boring version of a greatest hits tour that year, he could have obviously used the money, what with only releasing his music to a few thousand fans on the internet that had paid up front for it... it's a great single-disc breakdown for the most casual fan (or even non-fan, looking for the big stuff) of the Hits 1 & 2 discs, thought why on earch Money Don't Matter is on there instead of 7 boggles the mind. unless they didn't want to be paying out royalties for a sampled song, as it's the only one up to that point they'd have to worry about on that collection. | |

I see the MJ set isn't being pushed for the tradional $9.99 that albums like Brintey's and Blink 182's are. Just wondering if this means that the MJ set isn't that much of a priority for Epic. So u haven't heard Invincible yet then, I take it? yes, of course. and there are moments on Invincible that hark back to when he just made great music as well, instead of turning every song into a tirade about "why's everybody always pickin' on poor pitiful me?" and "We Are The World/Man In The Mirror/Heal The World/Earth Song touchy feely hippy can't we all just get along" songs. like Heaven Can Wait, Break Of Dawn, Butterflies, Speechless, and a few others. | |
