The Notorious B.I.G. Appreciation Thread

Give it up for one of the greatest MCs of all time. I was just listening to "Born Again" tonight and, even those outtakes caused me to remember what a great emcee he was.

Show ya love.
Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Maaan, that track he does with Jay-Z on "Reasonable Doubt" I think it's Brooklyn's Finest, He rips it up! I use to hate on Biggie when he first came on the scene, but years after his death I was at a friends house who was bumpin' "Ready to Die" and my jaw dropped to the floor. Also I was watching this documentary (I wish I could think of the name) That showed Big freestyling when he was like 17, he slayed whoever it was he was battling with so bad that the kid just walked away in the middle of it. lol horns

I think that's it.

Hehe I assumed everyone has seen the ebonics translated version of the One More Chance remix.
http://www.bizbag.com/Mis...slated.htm ..in case you haven't.
Here's an excerpt (writer unknown):

LYRICS:

She’s sick of that song on how it’s so long
Thought he worked his until I handled my biz
There I is - major pain like Damon Wayans
Low down dirty even like his brother Keenan
Schemin’ - don’t bring your girl ‘round me
True player for real, ask Puff Daddy

TRANSLATION:

Your current love interest no longer wishes to hear your fabrications about the length of your member. After I had sexual intercourse with your woman, she became enlightened as to the proper way it is supposed to be performed; violently and immorally. It would be in your best interest to keep your woman away from me as my sexual prowess is very strong. If you are unconvinced, ask Puff Daddy.

Say what you will about the content, but the way he provides vivid imagery and describes things in HUMOR is one of the reasons I really dig him.

"Juicy" b/w "Unbelievable" is one of hip-hop's greatest singles.

Biggie is DEFINITELY one of the greatest rappers of all time! music He knew how to communicate what was going on in HIS neighborhood - the trials and tribulations of black males in the inner city - he let them know that they weren't alone and there is hope!

did he really? looking at his lyrics, sure. but, like Tupac, he also acknowledged the fatalism and nihilism inherent in his lifestyle, and had expressed the dangers of his lifestyle prior to being killed because of it.

but he was still one of the greatest emcees of all time.

how familiar are you with his work, i wonder?
