DOPE MIX!!
I once did a tape of 1982-1987 that was pretty damn close to disc 1 (& beginning of disc 2), albeit with LP versions!

That is amazing. Are those all the same pics that were used in GHV2 becuase they look different and much cooler! Madonna should release that baby instead of that the thing she was planning on with only one disc of hits. It is just impossible!

answers:

my Into The Groove ends at 4:10, and it starts fading out about 10-20 seconds before that.

the pictures: well, i used a GHV2 thingy for the template on the front, but i meticulously inserted all of the pictures myself, so i could have better and more of my favorite ones on there.

the back is comprised of 2 ready-made GHV2 collages stacked on top of each other, with a GHV2 wallpaper from madonna.com underneath. i'm planning to replace the collage on the back with one of my own making, with all black and white pictures, but since the front was so time-consuming, i'm leaving it for now.

thanks for the compliments. i really enjoyed putting it together and making it smile

i did make a Prince one, 4 discs, all hits, but i'm not really feeling Prince at the moment, and i just made it to get the concept and breakdown in order. when i'm in a Prince cycle, i'll revisit and share it then. 21 tracks per CD. it ended up a lot better than i thought it would, so i'm encouraged to keep perfecting that one.

This looks pretty good,Aaron! Add another CD with rarities ("Revenge","Like A Flower","Cyberraga","Has To Be","Let Down Your Guard",etc) and you will have the ultimate Madonna box set.

Speaking of Maddy, yesterday at Tower Records I finally found the Special Edition of Q Magazine, focusing on Madonna's 20th Anniversary.Wow,what an issue!! The ENTIRE mag consists of articles/interviews from her whole career, and some of these articles are more insightful and revealing than ANYTHING I've ever read on her. There are loads of rare pictures, album reviews,etc...if you are a Madonna fan,you MUST pick up this magazine!!!

I also picked up the book "Mr.Peabody's Apples" lol

This is so cool! I know you where trying to save disc space, but why so many edits? Are the album versions much longer than the edits?

Q and Mojo do this a lot with legends. They have their regular issues that cover everything, but then they have these special editions that go in depth on one artist. I can't wait to get the Mojo one with Bowie next week. yay!

btw, did you see that Love Profusion has been removed from the upcoming maxi-single?

a pity. however, i can see the reasoning behind it. this EP and maxi is a last ditch effort to breath life into the AL project, and having all 3 songs they're promoting it with on the maxi doesn't give incentive to buy the EP or the album.

generally. and i wanted the versions that were hits, which in some cases means single remixes and edits.

for these projects, i like using edits. sometimes the album versions are too long, and i'm so familiar with them that the longer versions can wear out their welcome.

Tron used edits on his Prince HITS 3/4 too.. I only ever edit songs for the function of squishing more physically onto 1 disc. Someone on the org said the edits on Prince Hits 1/2 didn't wear out their welcome when they were in a car stereo changer shared on a long trip with a non-P fan.

yeah, when i do individual album projects, i use album versions, or preferably extended versions, if they aren't too far off from the original. for best ofs and greatest hits, i like edits and single mixes

Edits are perfect for a project like this. I know we're in the minority on this one though.

Actually, there aren't too many remixes on there; like "Gambler (Soundtrack version)": well, where else would that person get it from but the Vision Quest soundtrack, y'know? The details tell you exactly what version they use when there are multiple versions available. And I think they chose the best ones! Miami Mix Edit, all the radio edits...

Me sayin:
"I only ever edit songs for the function of squishing more physically onto 1 disc."

That's me in total denial: In fact, I'm actually feeling Tron and Aaron's idea for using the edits, I just don't have alot of those edit versions when I make my mixes. I'd still really like a copy of Prince HITS 3/4!

Speaking of "Gambler",I just realized that I don't even have that song, and I never bought the 'Vision Quest' soundtrack, although I do have it on video. So it would be cool having it as part of a box set.Curiously, this compilation doesn't include anything from 'American Life' but since there's already a remix EP on the way,it's not really crucial.
