Rolling Stone picks the Best Rock Movies on DVD...

From Rolling Stone magazine:

1. This Is Spinal Tap
2. A Hard Day's Night
3. Sid And Nancy
4. High Fidelity
5. Almost Famous Untitled: Bootleg Cut
6. Velvet Goldmine
7. Desperately Seeking Susan
8. Hedwig And The Angry Inch
9. Rock 'N' Roll High School
10. 24 Hour Party Party People
11. The Rose
12. 8 Mile

What a surprise no Purple Rain on their list. rolleyes

I suppose it could be because the actual dvd is so bare bones but you could say the same thing about Sid and Nancy.

Also isn't 8 Mile a rap movie?

I wouldn't call Desperately Seeking Susan a "rock movie".
And where the heck is The Doors?

i wouldn't call High Fidelity a rock movie either. it's about music geeks that work in a record store. they spend a lot of time talking about it, but the amount and use of music in the movie is minimal at best.

Truth Or Dare would be a better fit for the category than Desperately Seeking Susan.

Pretty much ANY movie that deals with any kind of music is called a "rock" movie. I can't believe Sid & Nancy made it up there though.

Because that is a suck movie.

Anyway, why no surprise that "Purple Rain" isn't on there. Did they have a falling out with him when he opened up for them back in the day (what, 1980 or 1982?).

hmmm Hey, I just realized that. I love Talking Heads and I thought Stop Making Sense was one of the best concert moveis of all time. This is just disappointing. disbelief

And don't even get me started on them not including Zeppelin's 'The Song Remains the Same".

Where's The Last Waltz? These stupid polls are moronic...Desperately Seeking Susan, while being a good movie is NOT a rock movie. I agree with Spinal Tap and Almost Famous though...those 2 are 2 of my faves of all time.
