The self destructive gangsta aspect of hip hop is disgustingly tiresome. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I liked their last album, but why are these dudes so mad? I mean aren't they livin' in mansions and shit and riding around in benzs' and bentleys? It's cool to come hard but these cats are in the stage of their career where they should be dropping true knowledge instead of the rules of "The Game". I understand being true to your roots and all, but what the fuck are they frowning about? They probably arrived to the picture shoot in a limo and went and had steak for dinner afterwards.
This is what I find frustrating about the rap industry and I know this debate is an old one, but it's time for this genre to evole rather than try and maintain it's street credibilty, they should be engineering the blueprint to escape the streets. Personally, I'm harder on rappers who came from the streets, then went platinum, then hollywood, but still try to hold on to a hardcore image. It make sense to have that mentality when you're hungry and you don't have shit, but to still maintain that attitude after you've become famous and made millions of dollars? Wft? Well I have to listen to the alum first before I jumpt to any conclusions.

Well I have to listen to the alum first before I jumpt to any conclusions. i dont like the song. Last album i heard them sayin "fuck east coast" and shit...but later in an interview, i remember Mack 10 was in the process of making his "Mack's Kitchen" album, and the woman said: "This album is more towards the west coast fans?" and Mack 10 said, "I like representing where I'm from but you gotta make music for all people, the west coast only aint gonna pay my bills, i wanna reach allpeople" That's when i knew the beef of E&W was over. I like Ice Cube, aint got nuthin against him, but it seems like...they just aint gonna be talkin about nuthin but the same shit every1 else is talkin about. Pick up Jay-z's "Black Album" probably will make more sense Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I can understand where sin is comin from sorta! They do say on their past albums that they're gangstas foe life ... so at least they don't sell out like a few other rappers who bought more shiny suits than they can afford..."gangsta" is what they describe makes the world go round and they specify that corporate america is/are the biggest gangstaz around... Cubes been spittin and droppin science for almost 2 decades and the fact that he brought together a blood and a crip to form a group and represent for whateva is a great a accomplishment in my eyes !!! A lotta peeps would never know what I mean but when you've lived out in Cali and know how the streets tick they'd understand... I saw WSC play at the house of blues in la years ago... I went upstairs to the foundation room(vip area) towards the end of the show and wouldn't ya know it all of the homies that cube invited from the hood burst through them doors laughin amongst themselves sayin dayumn check out cube livin the good life and shit... lookded like the nukka went hollywood and sheeit!! I wasn't sure if it was envy/jealousy/appreciation/ or love by the tone in some of their voices but I can see why they keep the hard image, cuz they got the hard crowd!!! their the only ones that went platinum and got paid fatt... not the fans.. thanks for all y'alls input though ... I was surprised to even get the few that I did..
I think some folk just automatically see how they dress or look and think they probably live an undercover suave and boojwa life style behind the scenes and front a hard stance or look on camera To Sir, with Love

I don't remember if he graduated or not, but the boy lives in Calabasas now (which is a multi-million dollar, upper class predominately white city). Last time I checked, Calabasas wasn't Compton. If he's all about maintaining his "gangsta" image, why doesn't he raise hell up in Calabasas? Why continually f**k up the image and property values of Black Angelenos who are living in the real areas he's rapping about? Yeah, he may have arose from the "'hood," but he's still perpetuating this stupid a** gangsta image. Name anything productive that came from the crip and blood madness other than a few, scarce individuals with corporate recording contracts and white-backed subsidary labels. Ice Cube was with the Nation of Islam for a minute, then he went right back into the gangsta ish when the record sales started slumping. Gangsta-ism has never been cool. I'm from Los Angeles and believe me, Crips and Bloods were NEVER COOL to me.
When your relative is lying in the street with blood draining from his corpse, that's not cool. When someone is selling crack outside of your house to your kids, that's not cool. When you're scared to walk outside the house or have your kids play, that's not cool. When black men (and women) continually die in the streets and skip school to gangbang, die and be another statistic, that's not cool...and never will be. Keepin' it real at who's expense? . One more thing, has everyone been keeping up with the news this year? Thanks to gangstas, the term South Central no longer exists. There was an article in the Los Angeles Times this past spring entitled, "Citing Stigma, L.A. May Drop Name 'South-Central'." Well, that finally came to pass. This summer, homeowners and community activists who live in what was formerly-known as South Central L.A. have voted to change the name to simply South Los Angeles in an effort to improve the image of the area, attract businesses, raise property values and lower the negative conotation associated with the area. The area once-known as South Central L.A. is now officially called South Los Angeles after a vote by city council, homeowners, activists and community leaders.
South Central is a disgraceful, now ARCHAIC and outdated term. Thanks, gangstas!

If you really ever listened to Ice Cube you would know he speaks about more than just gangsterism or him being one. The real gangsters are the ones we have supposedly voted into office, our patriotic government. For all we know these gangsters may have pulled gangster manuevers to gain there power without our popular votes. You know the Bush's in particular may have caused more deaths single handedly while in power than any crip or blood or latino gang member, whom you seem to down talk in your post, ever did as one gangster. There are reasons why gangs are formed or poverty exists in our country. Our same President who loves his land so dearly has shown that saving other countries is far more important than saving WATTS or Compton or any ghetto in the US. His papa, was the head of the CIA around the time the crack hit the streets in LA and if you think the gangs created it you should do a little bit of research and see the CIA was blamed directly for that disgusting drug killing so many of us off starting in the 80's and still to this day. Hello can you say population control. Now that's more gangsterish than even the amounts of deaths the mafia or hells angel "gangs" have ever caused. I have seen more than a few of my friends pass on at very young ages as a direct result of rival street gangbangers. People should sometimes stop only looking through their own eyes and put themselves in others shoes. What I mean by this is if you are a youngster growing up in the ghetto are you going to relate more with the West Side Connection or Duran Duran. *__________*__________*__________*________*__

Can't blame a business man for targeting his market but I think these days the core audience consists also of white cockasian kids from the suburbs or upper class neighborhoods like Callibasis even. But your right , that's entertainment! *__________*__________*__________*________*__

People should sometimes stop only looking through their own eyes and put themselves in others shoes. What I mean by this is if you are a youngster growing up in the ghetto are you going to relate more with the West Side Connection or Duran Duran. I grew up in the "ghetto" or the hood, whatever you want to call it,and I DON'T relate with West Side Connection or any of these other gangsta, thuggish rappers. and your point is what? I was responding to what he said, which I have a right to do!And now you're giving me an excuse to get started on a rant...I'm sick of people acting like young black people, whether we grew up in the hood or not are all supposed to be the same. We don't all have to like rap, wear Roca Wear or "relate" to some rapper. I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos

He was bused with other children acrossd town to the valley on a daily basis to more of an upper class school due to over crowded schools... he 's from the streets ... I wouldn't give him props if he didn't deserve it. Cube went to Washington Prep High School in South L.A.
Keepin' it real at who's expense? .
