Best Front Man of a Band (not counting Prince)
I know there's gonna be a lot of different names on here for a lot of bands that have brought a lot to the table regarding music and myth... but. I was listening to the radio the other day, and The Time came on with Morris Day singin' "Jungle Love". I got to thinking about how great of a job he did frontin' that band. His "coolness" and the way he had this confidence on stage. The whole Jerome! thing too... "Somebody bring me a mirror!" or the flirtatious "I wish you could see my home...it's s-s-so exciting, and in my bedroom... I've got a brass waterbed!" Prince also said the only band he was ever afraid of was The Time. Morris Day... no one else could'a hyped The Time more than Morris. "Ain't nobody baaad like me!" |

Bono isn't so much a frontman as he is a preacher. I can't stand listening or watching live U2 footage because I wish they could just play without him preaching. Social awareness is fine but Jeezas! Taht said, I would like to cast my vote for David Lee Roth. I don't really like his singing much and am not a huge Van Halen fan, but when it comes to frontmen, there aren't many that can beat Roth in terms of sheer showmanship.

Well damn. There goes my answer. Yeah, and I wasn't counting anybody who is a "solo" artist, like David Bowie. P would definitely be up there with all the others. Ure opinion is ure own...but what is Bono primarily? He is a singer, the lead singer in a rock band. He is in front so he is the frontman so that is it. If he has a skill in connecting with an audience then all power 2 him.Why is it preaching 2 u? strange. David Lee Roth was good...note was, but a frontman should connect 2 his audience. Spandex a few gymnastics and a bad dye job does not a grand frontman make. Yoda Luminous beings are we...not this crude matter.

Yoda yeah, but i don't think Bono, when he's up there preaching has any interest in connecting with the audience. he'd love for them to agree, but i don't think it really matters... he has something to say, and he's going to say it whether they want to hear it or not. when it comes to presenting the music, yeah, he does a good job of connecting to the audience, but in the "preaching" he's just telling you what he thinks... i didn't explain that very well, but his preachier moments don't seem like he's all that interested in connecting, more like telling people what he thinks, agree or disagree. he is a good front man when he's singing though.
