I guess for me, the songs change all the time. Which is odd because you would think such songs remain "such" songs. Maybe I haven't found one yet.
Having said that, at the moment it's a performance by Bowie together with Mike Garson on piano of a song called 'My Death' by Jaques Brel. One of the fucking most amazing vocal performances I've ever heard and such terribly beautiful lyrics. Oh, and 'Word on a Wing' by Bowie pops in my mind as well. Adore by Prince. It has such a "final" feel to me. You know, it feels like the one saying those songs doesn't have much time left and he's trying to get it all out before the end. And man, he says it ALL. And the end just feels so... that's it. That's just a perfect song. And 'Joy in Repetition' (more and more songs keep coming). I absolutely love the "story" the song tells. I see those two as isolated figures, misunderstood by everyone and unbelievably proud and happy that they have found each other in a hostile world. Unfortunately, sometimes I can relate to it. Anyway, great thread. | |
