King's X makes the "GOTTA SEE" list

Back on Sat nite I checked out King's X. They were playing out in Santa Ana (So Calif). This was actually my 2nd time seeing them. The first time was earlier this year when they did a joint tour with FISHBONE. They're a trio (p/b/g) and write their own music. Their sound is progressive bass-heavy rock with a kind of funk feel. They have at least 10 albums out to date, going back to the late 80's. Their songs are warm and spiritual, but not preachy.

The albums I've been digging the most are

and

though their most accalimed release is:

I'm happy to say they're on my "GOTTA SEE" list. I'm sure a lot of Prince fans will dig them. They just left CALIF and the final stops on their tour are:

Mon 11/10/03 Denver, CO @ The Bluebird Theater

Tue 11/11/03 Kansas City, MO @ The Grand Emporium

Thu 11/13/03 Hattiesburg, MS @ The Univ. Of So. Mississippi

Fri 11/14/03 Houston, TX @ Fitzgerald's

Sat 11/15/03 Tulsa, OK @ Curly's At The East End

Sun 11/16/03 Omaha, NE @ The Ranch Bowl

Tue 11/18/03 Beaumont, TX @ Antone's

Their website is at http://www.kingsxonline.com/main.html

Check 'em; see if you like 'em.

Oh my God...
Someone on the org who has heard of King's X...
I'm astounded...but pleasantly surprised.
I've been seeing these guys on every tour since around '89.
And they never, ever, disappoint.
Luckily, I live in an area that they schedule on their tours a couple of times a year.
Doug Pinnick (the primary lead singer) has one of the most incredible rock voices I've had the priviledge of hearing (especially in a live setting)
Jerry Gaskil (the drummer) and Ty Tabor (The guitarist) simply come out and play their asses off every nite
I just can not say enough good things about this band.
I also agree with your choice of selected albums but would add that ALL of their albums are keepers in my collection.
