JANET WILL TOUR IN 2004! (and more great news)

From Janet-Jackson.com:

Mark your 2004 calendar full of dates inked-in with 'Janet'! Janet will energize the upcoming year with new and exciting projects. First up is her new album and website that are both set for winter release. Next, she will follow the new album with a world tour set to kick off in the summer.

Among her many other scheduled appearances, Janet is set to star as the legendary Lena Horne in an ABC television movie based on the autobiography 'Lena', (written by Horne with contributions by Time Magazine’s Richard Shickel). Janet will also serve as the executive producer of the film.
Stay tuned, as details are soon to follow.

Gil Duldulao will be the co-head choreographer for this project. Shawnette (aka Bucky, the co-head choreographer with Janet during the AFY Tour) will not be involved with this project.

Here are some pictures from the Janet Dancer Audition in Hollywood Nov. 1-3

More audition pictures are available at www.thegilsource.com

Also, here's a recent Janet pic with JD in Jet magazine:

ughhh!! i hate that i have to agree with you on this...i happen to think that janet is on par with maddy in the quality, strenght (and weakness) of the music...but where maddy has surpassed janet is in the tours...

janet wears the worst outfits and seems to do the same dance moves...and her stages...oh lord...

im glad i saw the 1814 tour as a lil lad...cause the stuff that followed was just embarrassing...

but, me still loves me some janet..even though she is dating the human squid...

I LOVE JANET but I have to agree with that. 1814 was great (her dancer Terry was TOO hot) and my favorite tour was the Velvet Rope tour.

After cancelling her European tour and pretending that it was due to 9/11 when EVERY other act re-scheduled - funny how Janet was the only one without a single sold out date in the first place - and then proceeded to FLY to Japan (a place where she's far more popular) shortly afterwards. I won't bother. Saw several concerts on video and they're all uber-mimefests and the live parts are trés crap.

I'm experiencing Velvet overload: Super Bowl performance, new videos, remixes, singles, specials, articles, interviews, new album, world tour, new dancers, guest appearances, LENA HORNE movie...oh damn...

...it can't get no righter! haha

not surprising. Janet is notorious for cancelling concerts due to transparent excuses.

Janet being Lena Horne? I still can't imagine this idea, I was like "Ok, she may pull a Dorothy Dandrige after all she's an influence but LENA HORNE"?.

Hope she could pull it through,,,I can' wait to hear her LP!

I love Janet smile

..and will see her again in concert! But yes I do agree..she has a controled/no surprise show! They think of one show and just repeat it everywhere.

but for a non-musican who lip syncs.. most of the time I love her! ..and only respect her in that non-musican field.

atleast she write her own music.. and performs new dance steps.. new look.. ect

smile

the only songs that get new choreography are the ones that are from whatever the most recent album that's out, that didn't get performed on the previous tour. and those are done the same as the videos as well...

oh, i didn't say it was bad. all i said was that it was repetitive and unimaginative if you've already seen it once. sounds like she's going for 5 identical tours in a row... shrug

i've seen the past 2 tours and i certainly did not see repetition. yeah, the rhythm nation dance is the same...yeah, some of the fantasy segment of the show was the same...i'll even admit that i enjoyed the velvet rope show more because i hadn't seen any of the dancing live before. at the end of it all, however, i watched two brilliant performances that were the most energized choreography performances i've ever seen from a pop star. there were no 10 minute breaks in between songs (like the drowned world show), there were no dull moments at all. even the segments that you call repetitive were still very exciting. some of the choreography may be the same but the presentation of those performances are always fresh and fun, which added new spins on old favorites and, in my opinion, kept the show from feeling repetitious.
