Well, I know that everything went downhill after Kendall and Chris left the band. Those two were the strongest writers in the band, and then Fish up and leaves, shit personally without Fish it's not Fishbone! I think their last cd was a sign that it was time to put it to sleep. I love Angelo and Norwood, but without the original line up it wasn't Fisbone anymore. I know Kendall got involed with some cult and went crazy. I've heard rumors of him sprinkling holy water on the band before shows, I also heard that he filed charges against the rest of the band, because they kidnapped him and tried to have him deprogrammed. I haven't heard anything about a recent breakup, but if it's true, it's a black day in music.

Broke up? Is there a link to this? They just played Pop's in St. Louis last weekend. They were opening for King's X

This would have been awfully sudden if true.

A Moment of Silence ...PLEASE !!!

Their swan song : "GIVE A MONKEY A BRAIN "

((( Lemon Meringue )))

Possibly, some of the GREATEST Lyrix of the 20th century !

"Lemon Meringue" written by Norwood Fisher

I see you setting up your shot
I'm gonna git out of your range
I'll never sing your sad sorry song
Lemon meringue

Sour to the taste and sweet to the teeth
Death by saccharination
And the criminal charge is the same

A chance to tell the crimes of the cruel
A chance to wave the flag of the fool
But the cross on your road is twisted
And reflects an imageless tool

Gotta let the taste buds blossom
Sunny side never lost em
Easy over born to be clever
So i conclude you'll never lose

Creepin like a cavity
Waiting for the time to be
Drilled up under the bridge
Who's looking for oil
Who's diggin for diamonds
Who's diggin for gold

Lemon meringue pie
And i must say goodbye

Varmints and vermin writhe down the vine
Too wet to whistle, when the moon is rhine
Sound asleep when the sun does shine

Watchin the clock instead of the time ?

You can take away the drum
But the beat will never change
Evercharge, everlarge

Lemon meringue pie
And i must say goodbye

Gotta let the taste buds blossom
Sunny side never lost em
Easy over born to be clever
So i conclude you'll never lose

A windless sail and a waterless sea
A rusted ship and a discontinued journey
When will you be what you need to see
Because a mile in your shoes may cause swollen feet

Pipe dreams sound sweet
That's why the drilling is so deep
The pullout is pain
With a bang, yeh yeh !

Lemon meringue pie
And i must say goodbye

Gotta let the taste buds blossom
Sunny side never lost em
Easy over born to be clever
So i conclude you'll never lose

[end]

That sucks. I love the majority of Fishbone's work- in particular, the "Give a Monkey a Brain", "Psychotic Friends Nuttwerx", and "Reality of my Surroundings" albums. All full of great catchy tunes while balancing that out with their own rockin' crazy style that makes them unique.

Wait a sec, they just did a show last month in NYC supporting King's X. Anyways, just like their soul mates, the Chili Peppers Fishbone were true innovators of Alternative/College Rock.

I love Fishbone, although I haven't bought/heard any of their albums since "Give a Monkey a Brain". I like their early stuff.

I haven't heard that they broke up though, but I haven't been following them lately either.

here's the latest I've been able to piece together from the PFUNK & F'BONE lists. Starts off quoting PFUNKster LAMAR who transmits the exact details from FBONE Souldier Lady Nuttmeg

WhiLe it's hard for me to think of fishbone without WaLter "dog king of the freaks" Kibby, I wiLL continue to support the band in whatever form it takes. Spacey T was an amazing pLayer who Learned from the best (Mr. HazeL). It's too bad they didn't reLease more studio work during this era.
According to Ms. Lady Nuttmeg, they wiLL be reforming at some point, but most wouLd agree some time off wouLd be good. Norwood has been taLking about doing a TruLio mini-tour.

Here's the word from Lauren Nuttmegg:

Ok ya'll- straight from the horse's mouth.(meaning Norwood) just got off the phone with the man himself- now while yes, it is true that Spacey and Walt have permanently left, as of "now" there are no plans for breakup. They will however be on hiatus for some time until every thing's up to speed (if things can get up to speed) and the "plans" are that Brewster is down, Rocky George from Suicidal Tendencies is down, and Torri Ruffin from the Time is down to join the almighty force that is Fishbone! SO FUCKING EXCITED!!! My dream of all dreams is to have the "Resurrected" Fishbone play a New Year's bash in Los Angeles cranking out their new start AND the New Year's RIGHT!!! So symbolic on so many levels. I can't even fathom the thought for too long, for fear of spontaneous combustion! How, when, or if this can manifest- I'm not sure. but I must use every ounce of sweat to materialize this vision. Now while I have no idea what Angelo's take is on the matter, Norwood seemed confident enough that they'd keep on bonin' somehow, someway. and was more than happy that I relayed this info on to the list (I told him we were quite worried!!!) I hope this brings half the smile to your faces as it did mine!!!

SO DON'T BE SINGING THE DEATHMARCH JUST YET ALL!!! Awww
man, never again will I doubt the power of the almighty chant..

FISHBONE IS REDHOT!!! ::clap, clap::

Thanks for the heads-up, funksta!
