Maxwell does Nine Inch Nails

Right now I'm listening to Maxwell's version of NIN's 'Closer'and I'm really loving it. Has anybody else heard it? It's on my launchcast radio. launch.yahoo.com

Yup nod I agree that the original is awesome but Maxwell's version is also amazing. And much happier sounding.

Lauding someone for making a "happier sounding" NIN cover is like complimenting someone for making a Village People cover that sounds "less gay". Just don't make no damn sense. If you want happy, go cover a Deee-Lite tune!

I wasn't exactly lauding it for being happier sounding. I was lauding it for being amazing and the fact that it is happier sounding was just a side note. rolleyes lighten up.

falloff

For the record, I like both versions. They are different, obviously the NIN captures the essence of the lyrics.

That's the "Fuck you like an animal" song, right? I have
yet to listen to the Maxwell version, but I doubt he did
all the lyrics

TRON

This seems like a mismatch if there ever was one.

I'd much rather hear Jill Scott's rendition of a Skinny Puppy classic.

I think that was Maxwell's way of showing range. Nobody complained when Johnny Cash covered NIN. rolleyes
I like BOTH versions of the song and respect the differences. NIN made it happen and Maxwell flipped it.

I think JOhnny Cash doing the Hurt cover was kinda appropriate. I mean, this guy LIVED that kind of life! That whole badass cowboy thing...that WAS Johnny Cash. He's more punk than a lot of punks and more gangsta than a lot of gangstas!
