Did Anybody Catch Chaka Khan & Donna Summer In John Walsh Show? Wow!

That was a powerful and emotional interview!

I've never seen Chaka cry and get that emotional before and it really affected me. am sure there was some editing, but I will go on record and say that this was the most emotional Chaka interview ever.

I was really moved by her willingness to express her emotions on some rather difficult issues in her life (especially the kid thing). I was also very moved when she commented on "fear."

The interview is another reflection of something we always knew about Chaka- that she keeps it real. I've just never seen this kind of realness from her. She absolutely blew me away.

Donna Summer's interview was nothing compared to Chaka's. Chaka is just too real, and I love that about her. She's shy yet honest, fearful yet fierce, grand yet gracious, timeless yet hip, most of all, aware-of-her-gift yet humbly-modest.

But most of all, she is a human being. Did you guys see how beautiful Chaka looked as John was reading an excerpt from the book? The camera gave a close-up with Chaka's eyes closed as she was reflecting on what was being read and she looked like an angel. Tammy(her sista and manager) also looked fantastic and was very well-spoken. Another thing I noticed is how much Chaka and Donna Summer have in common. They are both great singers who defined their genres of music, they are both artists (painting & drawing), they are both grandmothers who look better than a lot of people half their age, they both thought about suicide, and they both had interracial marriages. I'm sure Chaka and Donna could sit down and provide a lot of healing for each other.

I have learned two things about Chaka in the last week of interviews and stuff. First, I will stop getting frustrated about a CD release. The point she has made is clear. She does not want to put out a CD until she has more ownership in the destiny and $$$ of the album. I think that is fair.

Second, Chaka is more emotional than I ever thought. Alot of times, it always seemed like Chaka was cold off-stage. When I say cold, I mean, not very in-depth in discussing issues, or her feelings, or her life. Now I realize that that approach was by her own design. She has really spent a long time blocking things and putting up armor. Now, I see her as a completely real person, not just a real singer and diva.

I was very touched by the John Walsh interview, that was something man!

Donna is still married to an Italian guy and has been for some 20 plus years. Sorry I missed it becuase while I love both I must admit I'm a bigger Donna fan although I do think Chaka probably has more personality.

You know what's crazy? I tuned into this show the other day,but in my area, they interrupted the Donna Summer segment to bring us a "special news report".It was President Bush visiting Southern California and meeting with Governor Davis to discuss the fires out here!! So I missed most of the Donna Summer interview and I was so pissed. But I did get to see the Chaka interview and it was great. She was really emotional,it's a good thing that John Walsh had some Kleenex for her...lol
