Aerosmith .vs. Rolling Stones I have had this debate for years now and some people think I am crazy for even saying that Aerosmith is the better band but what does everyone think, I mean listening and owning all of both bands albums and seeing both of them Live I feel aerosmith is the better band. So what does everyone else think, I mean whos better head to head, band member to band member, lead vocalist against lead vocalist, album vs album... [This message was edited Sat Nov 1 15:37:00 PST 2003 by lastdecember] I don't get into this Vs. stuff when it comes to music, because it's not sports, but ... you're actually serious? Don't think the wack ass Rolling Stones of TODAY are any sort of standard. The Stones of the late '60s - early '70s were prime era Stones. Aerosmith isn't in the building either today, during their power ballad heyday, or yesterday during their drug haze. Their best material comes up wayyy short of any Stones' watersheds. In the wake of their Run DMC rebirth collaboration and Alicia Silverstone videos, only a bunch of '80s/'90s kids would think Tyler, Perry and the boys could keep up. In the scheme of Rock music Aerosmith has never been as important. What next, Journey vs. Led Zeppelin? Da horror. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I like em both.Other than the big lipped frontmen and their perpetual presence on classic rock stations, I dont see that many similarities. "...all you need ...is justa touch...of mojo hand....."

nothing...but put it up against a song like "beast of burden" and it would run off squealing with it's tail between it's legs

dont be ridicolous!
aerosmith were always copycats

I will freely acknowledge that Aerosmith basically began life as a carbon copy of the Rolling Stones, following more or less the same formulas and styles the Stones so successfully exploited in the 60's and 70's.
That said, I would rather listen to Aerosmith than the Stones any day of the week. Aerosmith is perhaps my favorite rock 'n' roll band. [This message was edited Sun Nov 2 10:54:21 PST 2003 by todd305]

Rolling Stones from '69 to '81 would beat out Aerosmith in any period by just a sconch...
That said, my favorite album between both of those bands would be Aerosmith's "Pump". [This message was edited Sun Nov 2 11:49:15 PST 2003 by jtgillia]

Dude, the Stones. That's not even a debate there. Aerosmith is just a carbon copy. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

This is the strangest question I've seen on these boards for ages
THE ROLLING STONES! AeroWho??

The Rolling Stones. No doubt about that. They have written so many great songs. Aerosmith are great in their own way, but they don't even come close to the Stones IMO!

I like Aerosmith, but I would have to say The Stones.

The Rolling Stones no doubt.
But if this topic would be: AC/DC vs Rolling Stones, i'd say AC/DC. they are the best in the rock 'n roll business.
