Of course he is, juridically. But his kingdom is in miserable condition. Does he try to do anything against the misery? Not really. Could he? Without a doubt, people still love him.

Hmmm, INTERESTING post at MJJForum thanx to Platinum1:

===

NYC DJ Wendy Williams just said that she has just listened to a new collaboration featuring Michael Jackson and an artist called Graff (never head of him myself). She said she'd heard it on her way to work today and that she really, really liked MJ's part, but wasn't really feeling Graff's contribution. She commented on how she'd never expected to hear these two on the same track, but said again that she really liked MJ's part. Wendy then asked her producer Art how he felt about it and he said he thought it was 'hot' as well. She asked Art if he had bought the tape into the studio with him and he said yes. I'm thinking that there's a very good chance that she may premier this song today. Tune in to 107.5 WBLS if you are in the tri-state area listen online just in case she plays this. It could be another remix of One More Chance, but she didin't mention the title of this new material

I really don't see what he has done that is so great boxed

He had one fantastic album, Thriller, like so many other recording artists. This one was the best of his career, the Beatles have their best album, the Stones, James Brown, Prince, Madonna, Alanis, Diana Ross, Donna Summer and the Bee Gees. What makes him, as and artist, more special that any other artist? I still don't get it. He is good, and talented but to put him on a special plane is crazy to me.

I love Michael. Kids need to leave him alone, seriously. The dude is a living legend. I saw the TV Guide channel the other day and they were doing a 90 second life story on Michelle Pfiffer and they said that she still looks good as a 45 y/o woman, and they were like "what other women look as good as Michelle at 45" and they showed about 3 or 4 white women then they showed Michael at the end with a silk mask on. I thought it was stupid. I wanna write a letter to TV Guide channel blasting them for that, but I know my MJ fans got it covered.

Oh yeah, I'm really getting into the Thriller album lately. Loving "Human Nature."

Well,to be fair,Michael HAS achieved things that most of those other artists haven't.For example,'Thriller's total worldwide sales are near 50 million copies. As far as I know,no other single album by any other artist or band has sold that many copies around the world (not even Elvis or The Beatles). Also,MJ won eight Grammys in 1984 for 'Thriller',a record that was only recently topped a few years ago by Carlos Santana for 'Supernatural. Also,MJ was one of the youngest artists ever to have a Number One hit,in 1970 (again, this is a record that has only recently been topped by Lil Bow Wow,if I'm not mistaken).'Thriller' is also one of the few albums that produced seven Top 10 hits (that means there are only *TWO* songs on it that didn't become hits).Similiarly,His 'Bad' album also produced about 7 hit singles. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think 'Off The Wall' was the first album by a Black artist to sell more than 8 million copies,a record at the time.Another point: Elvis was extremely popular and sold alot of records, but he never had the crossover appeal that MJ had.I mean, you didn't see too many R&B fans going crazy over him,did you? In 1983,Michael was on top of the R&B AND pop charts, and even rock radio was playing "Beat It".

So,strictly in terms of sales figures and hit songs,Michael has achieved alot, and he's outsold many of his contemporaries. But I wish he could be happy with his past accomplishments and stop trying to duplicate it.

You should also remember his Motown career, the classic Off The Wall (an album that IMHO is better than Thriller), a string of other successful singles, and his extraordinary skills as a performer (everyone who saw Motown 25th live was amazed). I don't dig Mike that much now (he saddens me), but he's had one fantastic career

I know I will never win this MJ fight (being the King of nothing) but a few more stats. Even a girl can top the KOP:

Most weeks spent at no.1 (POP CHART).

1. One Sweet Day-Mariah Carey/Boyz II Men-16 weeks
2. I'll Make Love To You-Boyz II Men-14 weeks
3. I'll Always Love You-Whitney Houston
4. End Of The Road-Boyz II Men-13 weeks
5. I Swear-All-4-One/Don't Be Cruel-Elvis Presley Hound Dog-Elvis Presley 11 weeks

Most weeks spent at no.1 on singles chart

Elvis Presley-80
Beatles-59
Mariah Carey-53
Boyz II Men-49
Michael Jackson-38

Most no.1 hits

1. Beatles-20
2. Elvis Presley-18
3. Mariah Carey-15
4. Michael Jackson-13
5. Supremes/Whitney Houston-11

Get your head out of Thriller's ass please. If we are talking about something besides 84-85, like POP music sales. Garth has sold more total cds (even debuts on the pop chart and it named artist of the 90's), Mariah has had more #1 singles(artist of the decade), Whitney has 8 consecutive platinum cds, Beatles more weeks at #1, Elton John's (Diana tribute), or Whitney's I Will Always Love You single sold more than We Are The World or any other Jackson single, Santana has won more grammys, Prince has won more oscars. And biggest selling cd of all time, I thought it was the Eagles.

not the best selling album, not even at Motown
not total sales (in the US or UK)
not most #1's
or consecutive #1's
or most weeks at #1
or top selling singles
not the youngest to chart
not most grammys
doesn't play an instrument

disbelief

.

MJ has 50 weeks at no.1

Most no.1 hits

1. Beatles-20
2. Elvis Presley-18
3. Mariah Carey-15
4. Michael Jackson-13
5. Supremes/Whitney Houston-11

MJ had 19 #1's

I put my head back into the ass of 'Thriller' because it had one additional Grammy for 'Best Music Video' in 1984. That makes, let me count again... 9 Grammys.

Since the Bealtes, Elvis are dead and Whitney is still searching for her husband, they are out of those races. MJ is only 45 and if he wants to break any of those records he can do it because the best is yet to come. lol
