Forget about what you think you know and just play all of the following albums from the apogee of the Rolling Stones' career:
Beggar's Banquet Let It Bleed Sticky Fingers Exile on Main Street Add the singles from the 3CD "London Singles Collection" and watch the movie "Gimme Shelter". You may also add any other albums that you particularly like. There really is no comparison. *****************************************

When AeroSmith is the "institution" that the Stones have become, then there will be a debate. I love both bands and I can't wait for the AeroSmith blues album but...
AeroSmith just doesn't have a catelog of timeless songs like the Stones due. Right now there in my city every other month with Kiss.

nothing...but put it up against a song like "beast of burden" and it would run off squealing with it's tail between it's legs Not to mention... Emotional Rescue I'm Just Waiting On A Friend Tumblin Dice You Can't Always Get What You Want Aerosmith have a long way to go before they are even in the same league as the Stones. And for the record, Led Zeppelin IS the greatest rock band ever All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

The Rolling Stones are more consistent than Aerosmith, IMHO. Aerosmith had "Dream On" and a couple of others, but I didn't really feel them until the "Permanent Vacation" LP and their early 90s stuff was great. They were kind of hit and miss in the mid to late 90s though and right now they're on the blah tip recycling sound patterns and structures trying to score a hit.
The Stones had HOT material from inception until the mid-80s and then they tappered off IMHO. Aerosmith was better to me in the 90s than TRS so I give them that.

I like Aerosmith...but they have not done anything even close to what The Stones did from 1968 to 1974. Beggars Banquet, Get Yer Ya Ya's Out, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, & Exile on Main St are some of the best albums ever. There is no question. Aerosmith came close with Rocks, Toys In The Attic and Pump...but they just don't hold up compared to the Stones stuff. Finally I have seen both bands recently...Aerosmith bored the hell out of me...However, the Stone's rocked me out...those guys might be geezers but they still put on a great show.

But if this topic would be: AC/DC vs Rolling Stones, i'd say AC/DC. they are the best in the rock 'n roll business. That would be Zep! (but AC/DC is kick ass too)

HONESTLY, I think the original argument was LED ZEP vs THE WHO and they were really battling for 3rd & 4th cuz BEATLES vs STONES settled the first two positions. test
