However, what I don't like is her involvment with and praise for 50 Cent. Mary should distance herself from losers such as this. She's been through a lot over the years and involving ones self with the likes of 50 Cent will only bring her down. She needs to be around positive people who will help her to stay on the straight and narrow. If she can do this, I believe she will become a legend just like Chaka and Aretha.
I definitely agree with you as far as the whole 50 Cent thing goes. He's got a pretty bad rep among concert promoters because he'll show up 3 hours late for a gig then only play a half hour. however I DO think Mary J's voice is good. Maybe not good in terms of traning, but when I hear her sing, I get more out of it than I do hearing Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, or any of these other divas of today. She kinda reminds me o Billie Holliday. Billie didn't have the greatest voice, she had maybe an octave and a half, but when you hear her, you ALWAYS know it's her, and just the raw emotion in her voice just hits you like a ton of bricks. I usually hate all these female R&B diva types witht he perfect voices, and Mary is different. She's got more blues in her. It's funny because people talk about a lot of hip hop music having a beat and all, but quite a few of these rappers and singers sound just as square as some rock band to me. | |
