KYLIE: BODY LANGUAGE + NEW INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT KYLIE TALKING MY LANGUAGE.
Forget the love life and her bum, Kylie Minogue's new album is finally ready - and I've got my hands on the first copy off the presses. Body language, has seemed like ages coming and I'll bet you're all dying to know if it's much cop. Forget 'Fever Part II', this is no straightforward pop affair. Set squarley in the Eighties, Kylie's ninth studio album is her freshest. It's all about heavy synth, heavy breathing, electro disco and how very conifdent her music is - very. But the influences are not hard to find. The tracks Still Standing and I Feel For You are Prince when he was good. The Ms Dynamite co-penned number Secret (Take You Home) samples Lisa Lisa's 1985 hit I Wonder If I Take You Home. And Eminem-style production even gets a look-in on Red Blooded Woman, which will hopefully be a single. Elsewhere on the CD, Chocolate and Sweet Music* are touching, catchy ballads. Critisims? AT times Kylie's high-pitched twang risks sounding like Milo (or is it Jake?) from The Tweenies. But she somehow gets away with it. Body Language may not be full of hit singles like Fever was, but it's still one of the most accomplished disco albums ever. - Victoria Newton's 'Bizarre' (The Sun, Monday Nov 3rd 2003) *God knows why she described 'Sweet Music' as a ballad though - it's not, it's a great up-tempo track which I LOVE! BODY LANGUAGE IS OUT ON NOVEMBER 17th.

"prince when he was good"
I just hate that phrase! Objective journalism my ass. Kylies ass on the other hand... He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. - Albert Einstein

Moonbeam said: Kylie's music doesn't have any meaning and is completely unoriginal. Nobody has albums that sound like Madonna's collaboration with Mirwais. They're edgy, personal and raw. I'm sorry. I just don't see the comparison between the two artists other than blonde bombshells that do dance music with a large gay following. The similarities end there. Thank god.

Moonbeam said: "Fever" sounds like a zillion dance mix USA tracks. I don't find it revolutionary at all. Hell, Kylie wouldn't even know what to do with herself if it weren't for Madonna laying the groundwork. And as far as the genre is concerned, I think the only times Madonna wasn't setting the trends were during "Bedtime Stories" and "Evita". Every other time, she's been leading the way. And I think that Bowie has been leagues ahead of Kylie, The Strokes and NERD the last 5 years. So has Bjork with just one album.

She definitely trumps them all. Even Bowie isn't on par with Kylie for the past 5 years, in my opinion.

I'm sorry. I don't mean to rain on your Kylie parade. But I just wish that people would stop comparing her to Madonna. It's not fair to Madonna or Kylie. To me, it cheapens them both.

I get it. What's there to get? It's pretty surface. I just don't like it or care about it.

I 'get' what Creed is all about and that's why I hate it. I'm not gonna wake up someday and be like, "Oh my God. I'm so stupid. How could I have hated this for so long?" Just as you can appreciate or even love a work of art without undrestanding it. I love a lot of Miles Davis' work without knowing anything about him, his creative circumstances, how the songs are put together, jazz in general, who he's worked with, etc. One is not a prerequisite for the other.

I'm not saying you have to like it. But if to you it sounds like "a zillion dance mix USA tracks" then I don't think you do get it. It's fine. I didn't get "Heroes" or "Ashes to Ashes" either. Kylie isn't an artist you have any inkling to like anyway, so it's not important. But it is worlds apart from Amber, Sonique and the like.

I don't see how. But if it turns you on, then that's cool. And I don't think it's just a prejudice against Kylie. Because when you wanted to play me Dannii so bad, I dreaded it and didn't want to hear it at all. I had already made my mind up. But when I heard it, I was pleasantly surprised because it does sound unique and interesting. Maybe it doesn't have any more meaning than Kylie's work, but to me it sounds good.

Bare in mind that I think Dannii is Dance Mix USA 2003 fodder as well. Not that that's a bad thing.
