What a mess of a show this was, It was like a bad episode of Eurotrash
What was with those half naked girls in hot tubs all around the stadium the whole show
Anna Kournakova was the worst host ever and those bad jokes
and when Anna said: "Next is the world best selling Italian artist and I'm not talking about Michael Angelo"??
Everyone wants to be a Jessica Simpson
and Chaka Khan, I don't think those people knew who she was
Did anyone else catch this on TV, I only saw the last 1/2 hour

The World Music Awards is my FAVORITE awards show, because it's so poorly done and WAY Eurotrash!!! I remember when Prince was on in 1994, and they had Jordy (the four year old French rapping toddler) performing "It's Hard To Be A Baby" with a troupe of half-naked women dancers - the reaction shot of Prince in the audience was so classic...I've never seen him look quite so disturbed.

It's just sooo tacky. I think Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee presented it together one year and came on totally naked, but wearing shaving foam over their "crown jewels" and wearing crowns or something. Utterly hilarious.

And the way they suck up to Mariah and start lying about her worldwide sales, just because she's the only big female artist who will show up. They do the same with MJ too, but worse with Mariah.

Over the last 5 years or so instead of just announcing which act was the biggest selling for their country, they announce actual nominees. If it's based on worldwide sales, WTF are there nominees? And the lists of them aren't even the Top 3, 4 or 5 biggest selling. Just some big names and they give the award to whoever accepted their invite to Monte Carlo.

I think that Mariah is amongst the biggest female sellers in history...but last I heard Barbra Striesand is pretty far up there too...I think closer to the 200 million...the woman has recorded over 50 albums in like 40 years!

I feel Chaka should have NOT sang along with her gretest hits album. There should've been a live band up there so she could really show them how it's done.

Soundscan? Billboard? Billboard is for the US only. Soundscan is for the US only and has only been around since 1991. Maybe Mariah is the biggest selling female of the Soundscan era. Although Celine Dion has actually sold more and without hideous over-certifications of her albums (Mariah fans seem to claim the Merry Christmas sold 16m copies, sometimes 18m).
