Details on The Cure's 'Join The Dots' b-sides box set

From USA Today...

Listen Up for The Cure's 'B-Sides'

For music fans seeking a Cure-all, Rhino has a prescription. The label, in conjunction with Fiction/Eleckra, will release a four-disc box set of The Cure's hard-to-find gems on Jan. 13. Join the Dots: B-sides and Rarities 1978 - 2001 (The Fiction Years) compiles 70 remastered tracks dating to 1978, when the gothic pop band's debut single, Killing an Arab, was released with B-side 10:15 Saturday Night, the collection's opener. Selections range from a cover of David Bowie's Young Americans to Icing Sugar, a track from the Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me orange-vinyl bonus disc. The $54.98 set, with detailed track listings by singer Robert Smith and bassist Simon Gallup, will be available in stores and at www.rhino.com.

Yeah, I check for Cure news about twice a day. I will let everyone know as soon as I know what will be included. It's going to be generous though with 70 tracks as they only have about 35 or so actual b-sides. The rest will probably be soundtrack, compilation, promo and outtake tracks.

No, unfortunately not, TRON. I hope they're still showing it on Pay Per View. Otherwise, I'll just get the DVD.

Further updates:

"Polydor/Universal confirms the release date January 12th for “Join the Dots” 4CD long box. Robert Smith will announce the B-sides & rarities track list on the official Cure website.

The Cure albums will ALL be remastered with 1CD bonus tracks for each album. The first four chronologically Cure albums will be sold in February/march 2004 and every 3 months, 3 new remastered albums will be sold and so on until the last remastered album.

A new Cure DVD will be released in February/march 2004 called “Complete Cure” with some live materials, maybe TV live sessions but not sure about the provenance."

Add in a new album and a possible tour, and it should be a very exciting (not to mention expensive) year for Cure fans.

I just read that in the current Q magazine that Robert was recently at an awards show going on and on about Prince. I'll have to find the specifics though. And even better, he's planning a collaboration with Tricky. yay!

Yeah. Easily. They have a lot of similar textures and moods in their music. It would be heaven.

I just hope it really has the rare stuff, all of the standing on the beach b -sides that were only available on cassette. As well as Do the Hansa, Snow in Summer Kiss me era b-sides. 10:15 and Icing Sugar are not hard to find.
