I cant believe i am reading people orgers giving props to Britney Spears and Clay A. and you have the nerve to diss Rapahel Saadiq..A musician, a man that toured with Prince during the parade tour !!! Wow...The taste of some orgers is incredibly wacked. That last album was nominated for a Grammy...Dude, get some Taste...I would hate to see your record collection...Ohh never mind,,,I just looked up your favorite album list...Peter Gabriel ?

OKay okay! Everybody be cool! "Say bitch be cool!!" I really dig "Instant Vintage" a lot. But I always wondered why Raph puts on so many tunes like he thinks he's never gonna record again. Vintage is a fantastic album but I think it would have made a little more business sense for him to have chopped a couple of the tunes off. YOu only get paid for 10 tunes anyway. Anyone here ever check out his Lucy Pearl album? That's another good one!

i dig the man for his producerswork and his songwriting.
but personally i don't like his own songs one bit. except
for 'get involved' which reminds me of stevie. his vocals
aren't touching me. and the music to his own songs isn't
interesting in many cases. i don't however own 'instant
vintage' or any TTT albums to really make my point.
what i've heard just hasn't impressed me one bit.

raphael saadiq isn't and will never be a legend.

but the live album will probably be hot.
don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
purple music does the same to my brain
i'm high, so high

im sorry, who are you?

1) Peter Gabriel's Passion *is* one of the best soundtracks (if not albums) of all time...check it out, understand what style of music it is (which based on your comments made is obvious you dont) and then report back..

2) Why dont you look at those Britney and Clay threads and see my comments..

3) When did the grammy's validate good taste? Which albums have won album of the year (past three years)? Not a single album worthy of being called "Best of the Year".

4) Mayte also toured with Prince...Does this mean we have to appoint her Queen of Funk now? Or how about Tony M? Best rapper ever?

and finally

5) I LOVE RAPHAEL SAADIQ but there is some major crap on that album which dilutes its impact...which is all wrapped up in a special message called "IMHO"...so deal with peoples different personal taste and enjoy some fresh air!!

I listened to it at Virgin megastore and put it right back on the shelf, and the D'Angelo part is just plain horrible. Do we all need to send you some good r & b to listen to?

I love Raphael Saadiq and I didn't feel his solo album at all. I thought it sucked quite frankly.

I liked him better as Raphael Wiggins. Nah, seriously I've liked just about everything he did up until Instant Vintage-- I never gave it a really good listen. Back when I was in high school I used to love the Toni Tony Tone albums. People slept on House of Music but I didn't. Just more of that great talent from Oakland baby. As far as "legends" go I'll leave that up to the journalists.

I liked some of Toni Tony Tone's music, and I loved the song "You" from the Lucy Pearl album-

But his solo album "Instant Vintage" blew all of that out of the water. I loved it... vastly underrated album imo.

Just listen to it again. His singing may not be the best, but the arrangement of his instruments are off the hook! headbang

Today's word analogy for the SAT:

Stevie Wonder is to Raphael Saadiq

as Paul McCartney is to ?

correct answer - Billy Joel
---
After listening to Instant Vintage numerous times, I just don't find anything original about Saadiq
