Don't Leave Me This Way The Harold Melvin and the Blues notes version is the truth. The original is the better than the Thelma Houston version who else digs Teddy P tearing it up on this song?

Haven't had the pleasure of hearing the original. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I hadn't heard it until last month when I was downloading some old R&B on Kazaa then I downloaded it and it was awesome way better than the cover.

Only recently did I find out about Teddy's version, and, oh hell yes he puts the UNH in the song. Makes you wanna take the nearest girl by the drawers and... well. it's a good song. that's what I'm saying. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Funny, just the other day,I was listening to the 1975 Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes album 'Wake Up Everybody',which features "Don't Leave Me This Way".This CD was recently remastered, and the bonus track is a Tom Moulton remix of that song.As a vocalist,Teddy was da man,and not surprisingly,he kicks ass on this song. But I also love the 1977 version by Thelma Houston, which became a monstrous disco hit.
This wasn't the first time that somebody took an obscure song from the Gamble and Huff stable and transformed it into a huge disco hit.In 1978,disco singer Jackie Moore took the O'Jays song "This Time Baby" ( a non-single from their 'So Full Of Love' album) and remade it into a dancefloor smash. In this case, though,I prefer the original. Now, there's a blast from the past. Haven't heard that version in ages. I like Houston's version. But Teddy does throw down!
