The Org's Quintessential Library (What recordings must EVERY music lover of our era own?)

This may seem like a thread more appropriate to Anji, but I'm looking to compile a list of all-time absolute must-have music titles for the informed listener of our era.

Helpful guidelines: Imagine earth will be destroyed next year, and we have the chance to fire off into space a capsule detailing the musical legacy of our race. What recordings -- of all time, of all genres -- would you include? Because this is so immense, I'll set no limits to the number of titles you should submit... just be realistic in the grand historical scheme (i.e., Britanny, while a big seller, is probably not among the most important artists of all time.)

I can live with that. As long as they don' think "New Power Soul" or "The Gold Experience" makes it.

They should just take my collection, and ship it off. I'd add about 100 more that need to be had.

I hardly think more than a tiny percentage of the recording would be post-1900.
