My Tori Amos B-sides MD

Don't shoot me. I do not have EVERYTHING by Tori and I kind of lost interest after From The Choirgirl Hotel...

But TRON has got me playing again.

It was hard compiling this. The tracking of these Mini Discs is always hard. I try not to put songs from the same era back to front and try to get a balanced tracklisting.

Normally I would not include covers or live songs, but as Tori is known for her live performances, there is ONE. And her versions of songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit ad so much power to them that I could not get around some of them.
No Little Drummer Boy, for instance, because it's a personal dislike I have for that song..

Samurai
Do It Again
Black Swan
Take It To The Sky
AllThe Girls Hate Her
Over It
Sister Janet
This Old Man
Flying Dutchman
Cooling
The Pool
Sweet Dreams
Upside Down
Daisy Dead Petals
Smells Like Teen Spirit
Honey
Here, In My Head (live)
Sugar

I might switch the album version of Sugar to the live version on the Hey Jupiter cd single.

And Tron? Ask Diva for this Australian version of Under The Pink. It was a tour edition with a second disc, called More Pink.

Under The Pink + More Pink
Release info:
1994--East West--7567-80607-2
Availability:
This is a special Australia/New Zealand 2cd Tour Edition of Under the Pink. Presently available as a collector's item though at one time it was available in many stores simply as an import. Apparently still available at some Australian cd stores.
Ecto priority:
Recommended--this is the only legal collection of many of the B-sides from Tori's singles.
Comments:
The set consists of Under the Pink and a second cd which is a compilation of various B-sides from Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink. This second cd includes: "A Case Of You", "Honey", "Daisy Dead Petals", "Sister Janet", "Sugar", "Take to the Sky", "Upside Down", "Flying Dutchman", "Here. In My Head" (live), "Black Swan"", "Little Drummer Boy". All of these are songs worth having, so if you don't already have these songs from the singles, you might try to track this down. "Little Drummer Boy" is the only song not on the singles, though it was available as a promotional single and on some Christmas compilations

But I thought that was corny.
Also, I did not understand why you wanted to shoot me.

Good stuff!! Track down the Jackie's Strength CD single and check out the B-side "Never Seen Blue" ABSOLUTELY gorgeous very "Little Earthquakes" vibe piano and vocal track which was originally intended for Boys For Pele...you won't be disappointed!!

very nicely done. in fact, most of tori amos' b-sides are very well, if not better than some of the usual album tracks. keep checking for them gooey, they're worth their time. my favs: NEVER SEEN BLUE (like mentioned before - it's so beautiful) and most of the b-sides from the LITTLE EARTHQUAKE-era like TAKE TO THE SKY and HERE. IN MY HEAD.
there's a brilliant live version of TAKE TO THE SKY circulating from her latest tour - 7 minutes full of power and potions of I FEEL THE EARTH MOVE. brilliant!

Tron got to you too eh? I've been on this Tori trip for
almost two weeks now.

My fav weird bees are

NEVER SEEN BLUE

Some boy you are, to take me by the hand
through an elevator
Got a little red line that tells you, boy
where the razor's been

BEULAH LAND

Gimme religion, and a lobotomy
Beulah Land, you beautiful whore
Tell me when I don't need you anymore

MERMAN

He doesn't need your voice
to cross his land of ice

SISTER JANET

Master Shaman, I have come
with my dolly from the shadow-side
with a demon and an Englishman.

ALAMO

Somebody invent the telephone line..
I'll take mine, my chances ah uhm.

PURPLE PEOPLE

And on, and on, the nurses make it clear.
Just when you escape, you have yourself to fear.
A restaurant that never has to close.
Breakfast every hour- it could save the world.
So hey, do you do Judo in your finery?
An angel's face is tricky to wear constantly.

COOLING

Maybe I didn't like to hear,
But I still can't believe Speed Racer is dead.
So then I thought I'd make some plans,
But Fire thought she'd really rather be Water instead.

SWEET DREAMS

Land-land of liberty; we're run by constipated man.
When you live in the past, you refuse to see,
When your daughter come home nine months pregnant.

I have to stop now or I'll listen to all her albums and
read all the lyrics again before I can go to bed tonight smile
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Take to the Sky is a hot track. I'm glad she did it live this year. I think her upcoming CD will have it on there.

sadly not. i wish it would have been there in a new version like she did live. but there will be two reworked b-sides on her forthcoming best-of album TALES OF A LIBRARIAN. they are SWEET DREAMS and MARY - the latter also being released as a single. you can listen to the new version on AOL somewhere. it's not much different to the old version from 1992.

TRON

I rock! biggrin

I'll probably have to shuffle things around or remove songs next month. "You Belong To Me" and "Murder" are coming out on the Mona Lisa Smile Soundtrack. And 2 new songs are going to be on her best of, "Snow Cherries From France" and "Angels". Yay!
