Cher live last night... I'm not a big Cher fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I went with some coworkers to see her live last night in Pittsburgh just for the hell of it.
Few things that struck me about the show: - The stage is way smaller than I thought it would be. All the videos I saw of this show made it look like it was some huge production, but the whole thing seemed pretty unspectacular when you see it in person. - Cher is a pretty boring person. Her voice sounded great, but she doesn't play any instruments, she doesnt really dance. She doesn't really do anything but stand there and sway a little. - The show was an hour and a half with no encore. - She went on a little rant about JLo and Brittney and other pop stars, and how she wanted to kind of show them how its done, before she retires. Looking back, this is about the 3rd or 4th concert Ive been too (including Prince) where the artist has stopped to go on a little rant about these pop stars. It's just kinda interesting about how many veteran musicians are becoming more vocal at their shows about their bitterness towards the current roster of pop stars.

I really like Cher but was never really tempted to see her live (I will buy the videos though). I think only real fans of her would love that show, even though she mostly those her pop hits.

wow. i thought that tour ended a looong time ago. i saw part of it on TV and got the same impression as Tom. i've never seen her live, and thought it would be cool, just to say that I did. but then again, not $100 cool, or whatever the tix ran. i bet she's got a Vegas show in the next 8 years. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

Cher is Vegas. She actually did a show there when she had disco records out in the late seventies although the act mostly consisted of cover songs. If I were in Vegas, I might see Cher.

Wow,is she STILL on her "farewell tour"? LOL...this tour never ends! I saw her twice last year, and I was really impressed. This is a very, very entertaining show. It's easy to forget that Cher has so many great songs, and this tour was a nice reminder. Anyway, regarding the Britney/J-Lo comment...I don't think Cher is "bitter" at the current roster of female pop stars.Cher is in her mid-50s,she's had hit records in the 60s,70s,80,90s,and beyond.Let's see if those other "divas" last as long as Cher has.She was basically saying "Let's see if those girls can top MY accomplishments".It was just a fun comment, and it always gets rapturous applause from her audience. btw, this tour has recently been released on DVD and it's excellent. The DVD contains a ton of bonus footage.
