Me'Shell's new record: I'm let down.

Ain't saying the disc is BAD, so don't blast me.

I'm saying, I didn't hear ANY jams on it ... nothing NEAR the funk of "Boyfriend" or Leviticus or God,Fear&Money (my three favorite Me'Shell songs). This record is great for chillin on a Sunday afternoon, but WHERE is the FUNK this woman is so capable of throwing down?

Why do you think she's slid into the quiet storm stuff?

Me'Shell's Comfort Woman is a beautiful CD music

LYRICALLY: Bashir writes from her soul and her true fans appreciate the fact that we can relate to the emotions of a real down to earth person - It's obvious that she's in a peaceful place right now. Theese songs reflect love and theese songs reflect piece of mind ... Personally I'm happy that she's happy.

MUSICALLY: The arangements on this CD amaze me- her ear for music is pure genius to me! She has the ability to let the tone set the mood- her instrumentals always reflect her lyrics and give you a total experience so not only do you hear the song - you envision it!

God I love that woman! love2

Advise: Either appreciate the album for what it is or go buy- NOW Vol. 14 for totally awesome dance grooves! hrmph

I take it you're talking about the first track? Heard the album a few days ago. Only a couple of great tracks on that album, but that first one, whatever it's called, frigging kicks ass. Great funk.

THA HELL are you talking about? A true fan HAS to say the music is good, even if they don't think so? What is this, PRINCE.ORG?

fishslap lol

They're a couple of London based 'anthemic dance tune' manufacturers...first album (Remedy) was extremely well received by the critics, and one of the guys is a big Prince fan apparently, which kinda shows in the diversity of the albums i guess. I only have a couple of cliche dance albums (Chemical Brothers, Prodigy etc.) but I got Jaxx second album (Rooty), from which 'Where's Your Head At?' was released.

Just checked amg and Me'Shell's on the second track of the latest album. Shame, 'cause I'm sure the only tune my funk radar bothered to tune into was the first one.

If you want to hear the funk of "Boyfriend", "Leviticus" or "God,fear, & money", I suggest you listen to those songs to curb the craving of that funk tooth. As far as the format that she's working with on this latest cd, I applaude her, I like to see her stretching out, rather than being pigeonholed as a "funk" artist. I don't think any artist should stick to the same formula because it won't take long for the fanbase to become bored with it, take "Jamiroquai" for example, after listening to the first three albums what's the point? It's the same old turkey just warmed over. Though MEshell is stretching out a bit on this album, she's still staying within boundaries. It's good to shift gears periodiaclly otherwise it just sounds like contrived and done before.

Okay, you're right, I agree, don't put out the same album seven times, like AC/DC or whoever, but at the same time, to do an entire album of ANY style will bore a person, and in this case, I'm sad that it's slow deep personally meaningful songs. I'm sure the lyrics sing volumes to the passion that she's going through right now, but an upbeat number with a stone funk groove wouldn't hurt now, would it?

Or, unfortunately, out of sight, out of mind. No Funk, no play. Gimme funk, I'll wear it out.

But that's just me. Holding on to old ways.

If it turns them away then- whatever!- they don't like that type of music then! And YES a TRUE fan because I am- would know her style and would not be let down by this album - ecspecially if they understood it- but how can I expect that if my plain and simple comments weren't even I understood - I said I love the CD and why I thought it was great! It is the first Me'Shell album I won't buy

It is as depressing as Bitter but 10 times less beautiful

That reaggae vibe on several tracks is just pointless

I'm so disapointed, cuz I'm a true fan of her!

and BTW this album is consistent with her latest tour, or at elast the european leg of it: you really get the feeling that she lacks any musical direction at the moment, other than falling into deep depression.
