i love me some rufus! this new disc is a little more accessible as far as pop music is concerned, but that's not a bad thing. his first two cds were not quite as "poppy" but i love the way this disc mixes big, swooping orchestral arrangements with catchy pop hooks. the lyrics are still very rufus but it seems like the stories are being told to a wider audience. maybe i'm just talking out of my ass...hwo knows...but i love the cd!

I have yet to understand the appeal of this guy. Could someone please explain it to me.

nothing to explain...like all other music, either you like it or you don't. smile

i think the way he writes (both, lyrics and melodies) is very unconventional an that appeals to me. i also appreciate that he can manage to be poetic without sounding contrived or pretentious.

GOOD choice Chris! Im sure u will love it.

Great album - love the opener with that sample of Ravel's Bolero thrown in the mix!

High camp high-jinX!

I like it because it is DIFFERENT.

it took awhile for Rufus to "click" with me, but after repeated listenings of "POSES", it finally did - wow what a great album that is. I'm not as fond of the new one, but Rufus really requires alot of repeated listenings, at least for me.

My favorite track on Poses has to be The Tower of Learning... what a great song...

unlike other bands that require repeated listens, I didn't find that with Rufus. I had never heard him before the new cd, and the first two tracks kicked my ass!!! I was hooked immediately! I had to go out and buy poses right away. I still haven't heard his first one yet. I love all the different styles he incorporates into his own brand of pop. I'm very impressed.

I haven't heard the new album yet, but here's what I have to say about him. It's like, his music is good, but it's just his voice that annoys me. He sounds like a human, drunk vibrator. I'm expecting some angry posts at this point now, but that's just the way I feel.
