I didn't say I bought the album, researched the method and meaning to the songs and analyzed which strings were played on which frickin songs. I said I heard sound clips and the sound quality sounded like the dry sparse (crap) recordings on Stain. Ain't talking about Bi or Nothingness, but that empty void crap like "Just Go Away" or "Mind Your Own Business". And Stain was their weakest album in my opinion, BUT, like I said, if you like Vai and Satch where the notes are more important than the production quality, you'll like this. So, eat my leg hairs, I DO have an idea of what I'm talking about before I post. [This message was edited Mon Oct 27 9:10:26 PST 2003 by otan] The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

I don't believe this, otan & pfunkjazz, two of the few orgers who's musical taste I respect going toe to toe over their views of Living Colour's new CD?
I'm going to get the new release because I've loved their work in the past(some better than others), and I'll draw my own opinion that I have a right to draw. Shame on you two.

Okay look Pf. Pull your pants back up and sit down. I ain't saying you're a horrible person for liking the very things I disliked about Living Colour. If anything, it's great that they're so diverse that they can pull two people with different backgrounds into the same mosh pit. Whatever.
Your alluding that I should buy it and then make a decision on the record is exactly what I did with Stain. I ran out and bought that the minute it came out. No thought, no deliberation, and it's now one of those albums I ALMOST regret buying. You're totally on the LC wagon and that's cool. Get up on it and be who you wanna be, but don't go blastin folks because they DONT think the sun rises and sets with Vernon and Corey. And mom asked why you never called her back after your unfortunate "let down". She's okay with it. Says it happens all the time with you. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

The album is just real badly written, and the socially aware songs have awkward lyrics. The guitar riffs are weak and the album has no funk or soul. They are trying to sound like a white rock band. Please, do not buy this, if you can help it. There are a few decent songs, but this album is baaad. Save your money.
Can I have your copy then?

That's only the mythology you get from watching MTV. Actually Vern, Corey, Muzz and Will were very active in NY doing club gigs and hand-carried some tracks over to EPIC. Jagger at the time was trying to get a deal for his solo set and ran into "folks who knew folks" and some label bigwig suggested the Jagger connection for synyrgy. The guys haven't been too particular about who they play in front of or who they'll tour with. They just take it the stage and see what happens. test

Thanks PFunk - I KNEW Mick was just the Biggest Name standing by when they "happened". To think that Mick Jagger single-handedly pulled them out of CBGB's obscurity is a little hard to believe when you listen to their debut record. Did you ever see the video they put out (full-length VCR vid, not music video) when they released Time's Up? Interviews and shit - had footage of their very first show, as well as footage of Vernon playing with the jazz band he was in prior to LC. Worth getting if you haven't seen it. I'll have to double-check some details on that MI date and I'll see what I can find on your Philly date too, but here's the link: http://groups.yahoo.com/g...redGround/. You should know that the dates shifted a lot from the initial plan and the earlier East Coast dates were made to be openers for KING CRIMSON, so LC had to conform to their schedule. Later..... Here's some good news (well bad news if you're jonesin' to see KING CRIMSON). That Philly date has been moved to Dec 4 but it's at The TROCADERO Theatre http://www.thetroc.com/. THE good thing (in my eyes) is LC's headlining and not merely an opening act. This means up to 2 hrs of head bangin' for yo' ass!! Also that MAGIC BAG site is indeed in FERNDALE (not Ann Arbor). Well I did check them out on their own website (http://www.tonycandthetruth.com/). I listened to one cut off of their CD called "Little Bit More", well it was so-so, sure ain't no "Truth".
Hey anybody know if HR got his act together so that Bad Brains can open for LC? Looks like I'm gonna have to put my band back together again. Man, I thought I was outta this Sh*t!
