SONY and MARIAH, WARNER and PRINCE?? Well the situations were very different but both were commercially the biggest things both the labels had, sure MARIAH didnt write SLAVE on her face but when she left SONY she voiced her displeasure with them and their attempts to sabotage her and her future projects, some people thought she was paranoid, but was she RIGHT???
Heres a fact to justify her point, MARIAH was obligated to do this REMIX CD, it was part of her contract still with SONY. And currently MARIAH is back, even though she doesnt get the airplay she once did (i wonder why???) her last CD sold close to 2 million in the US alone which is really good considering MARIAH has been around for 13 years now, and coming off the whole "breakdown/Glitter(which was a hot cd, horrible movie, but hot CD) fiasco. So Mariah goes out and actually does some Press to Help THE REMIXES along and gives SONY tracks that arent even SONY tracks to put on the CD. But wait, SONY only prints 100,000 copies of the CD, and then only ships 50,000, (42,000 of that sell first 6 days) many of her fans cant even find th CD in stores and most chains got very few copies. Now this CD will look like a flop to most but really she sold almost everything shipped, which nobody does. But this clearly shows another atempt by a label to sabotage artists after they go. Maybe MARIAH had valid points when she said her music was being leaked and stolen by Sony insiders. ... if you don't count Madonna and Michael Jackson, of course.

I don't think so. of course, i've never been one to buy into "the man" theories. she's not exactly the hottest thing around right now, so why bother distrubute so much? They probably figure that no one would/will buy it, she isn't making that "vision of love" or "daydreaming" money anymore, what's the point in putting so much effort into that? I know how that sounds, but that's their "motive", they're not trying to sabotage her. they just don't want to put much effort (and money) into something they don't see as charting in the top 10. I'd calssify myself as a fan of hers, I've liked everything up to "butterfy" and parts of "glitter", but have nevre been a fan of her remixes and never intended to buy this album, but, yeah, I guess that does suck for a lot of her fans. They're not trying to ruin her, they already see her as ruined in 2000, they don't give a damn anymore. So, yeah, I still think she (AND prince, since you mentioned him) is/was being paranoid. Also the theory of not printing alot as opposed to what sells percentage wise is interesting. I noticed this recently when checking the top top grossing Movies in terms of DOLLARS PER SCREEN not total dollars made. Its interesting because these films that come out like MATRIX and things with the ROCK and typical action/blockbuster movies MAKE less MONEY per screen than MOVIES that get little or no attention, its basically HOLLYWOOD and THE MUSIC INDUSTRY cramming so much of something down your throat you have no choice but to go see what everyone else sees or what THEY want U to see or hear. hey, Mariah married her boss so that she'd get the royal treatment at her label. i don't blame them for shunning her when they got divorced. it was an underhanded way to get to the top, so what goes around comes around.

huh? she was already "at the top" when she married matolla. she already had royal treatment, had what you said been the case she wouldn't have divorced him. she didn't use her romantic relationships to further her career, I think you're getting her confused with madonna ~KiKi
