Michael Jackson--Invincible

Pink Floyd--The Division Bell

Those are the probably the two most disappointing albums I've ever heard...

Division Bell wasn't the best Pink Floyd album, but it was ok...much better than Momentary Lapse of Reason.

I thought this was an unusually good debut for an ex-soapie star.

It's been ages since I've bought an album I hated, I can't remember the last one.

Some of this is embarrassing. What can I say? I was young and impressionable, it wasn't my fault!

1. Kylie Minogue - Kylie (the one with 'you should be so lucky' on it. yeuch.)

2. Whitney Houston - Whitney (or whatever her first album was called). All that lip-trembling is just too much.

3. Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory? (I can't claim youthful ineptitude here - this purchase was
brought on by a momentary lapse of reason)

4. Belinda Carlisle - Belinda (I think that's what it was called - the one with "Band of Gold" on it)

5. Jack Mix '88 (utterly horrible montage of 80's pop guff)

6. Venom (can't remember the name the album - it was a double, and I have never been able to stomach more than 30 seconds at a time. I like heavy music but this was just awful - imagine recording somebody revving a truck engine for an hour and you've captured the unique Venom sound)

7. Life in the Fast Lane (really tacky compilation of 'driving' music including John Farnham 'You're the voice')

8. Michael Bolton - Soul Provider (shudder)

9. Robbie Williams - I've been expecting you (bought this having seen him live - brilliant entertainer, but I NEVER want to hear him on cd again).

I know I'm leaving some out, but I think they are probably so horrible I have suppressed the memory of them.

4 non blondes-I forget the name of the album, may have been self-titled (complete abuse to my ears)

I'm assuming (given how 'talented' they were) that they only had one album. In which case it was called :
"Bigger, better, faster, more!"
Everybody sing along now "I said Heeey yeah yeah what's going on!" barf

Anyone got any good recycling tips for CD's that ebay can't shift?

If you drill a little hole in them near the edge and hang 'em using fishing wire they make very
effective bird scarers.

Superglue them together in groups of 10 - then you can use them for clay pigeon shooting.

Stack them in a corner in an attempt to beat the world record for useless cd's (the current record includes 600 AOL free trial cd's).

Slip them into your friend's collections when they aren't looking so you can embarrass them at a later date.

Donate them to a charity store.

'Donate' them to npgmc - but charge them $25 delivery.

Glue them into road margins to replace broken cats eyes.

Send them to Bill Gates.

Training wheels for your kids' bikes.

And as its seasonal - make a Guy Fawkes out of them.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Yeah?

If you want it - it's yours. I don't even know what continent you're on so orgnote me and we can arrange how to get it to you. It may be mid next week before I get back to you though - I'm off to Zurich to see Mr. Bowie tomorrow (yipeee!).

I feel it's only fair to warn you though - it's nasty, nasty, horrible, yucko, noise. I wasn't joking about it sounding like a truck engine either - it really does sound like that. barf

DAMN YOU PEOPLE BUY CRAP!

These were the BIG shockers. Minor bands don't count because you can count on a high suck ratio. I don't remember all the titles, so I'll make them up:

1. Kiss - "We Suck Ass" (the one with Vinnie Vincent)
2. Dave Stewart Solo (of Erhythmics) "I Suck Ass".
3. ALL Black Crowes after Marc Ford. "We Suck, vols 1-5".
4. Prince: Ecrapcipation - "I Suck this once".
5. Prince: Suck un2 Suck Sucktastic "okay, I suck twice".
6. The Time: "Suckdemonium: we cant write songs for shit"
7. Hendrix: "South Saturn Delta", or "I'm dead, they're still raping me. Help".
8. Stones: Undercover "we've lost it. more drugs please".
9. The Cult: Sonic Temple, or "Chameleons gone wild"
10. Milli Vanilli. Bought the t-shirt too. shut up. you got this tape too. you know you did. shut up.

I remember when a friend of mine bought the mc hammer album with "U cant touch this" because they gave prince co-writing credit on "Pray"... but it was just a sample on a shitty album. and this friend bought it because I turned him onto prince.

I bought the Cinderella Theory by George Clinton cuz I was a Prince freak at the time so I had to have Paisley Park productions. But goddamn what a waste of money.

Though the last Shelby Lynne album "Love, Shelby", is about the most hideous pile of flop I've ever had the misfortune to purchace. And in a related topic, Fischerspooner put out a good album, but man o MAN was going to see them an experiment in torture...if Stymie wasn't there to mock them with me, I would have been TRULY trapped in hell!!

This is the post of the day. Anxiety, it's gonna be all right, man.

Y'all are harder on Common than you should be. Granted, "Resurrection" was one of the greatest LPs in hip-hop history (IMHO), but he's branching out. Not every track works, but let me tell you, "Heaven Somewhere" is one of the most moving tracks I've heard in a long time, from any artist.

Oh yeah, one more for y'all to think about: "Charge It To Tha Game." That is a great title for an LP I wouldn't buy for all the 12"s in Uptown.

Recently:
Madonna - American Life (collection purposes)
Janet Jackson - All For You (idem)
TLC - 3D
En Vogue - Masterpiece Theater (barf)
Marilyn Manson - Holy Wood

Oh, and one copy of Invincible would 've been enough (now i bought all 5 colors, 20$ each headache)

Anyway, i mostly limit myself to buying 'classics', certain artists i have the full collection of, and albums i downloaded and that passed the test of taste and time (not too many actually).

But thank God for downloading, imagine all the crap i would've bought in recent years, and all the gems i would've missed out on.
