Anxiety

I mostly sell 'em when I hate 'em and then I block them out of my memory...so I couldn't really tellya.

Though the last Shelby Lynne album "Love, Shelby", is about the most hideous pile of flop I've ever had the misfortune to purchace. And in a related topic, Fischerspooner put out a good album, but man o MAN was going to see them an experiment in torture...if Stymie wasn't there to mock them with me, I would have been TRULY trapped in hell!!

I bought that Robbie Nevil album when it came out, the one with "C'est La Vie" and "Dominoes" on it...at the time I thought it was cool, but it really wasn't.

It wasn't cool at all.

Oh..

True dat. Most of my sh*tty album purchases were before the advent of Napster. Post-Napster & online file sharing THE ONLY albums I buy are good albums. I test them online first and if I love them I'll purchase 'em.

I test the music first also, but before downloading we just had to take the risk. I'm sure everyone has shit they despise in the CD collection.

there's just a few that I truly detest/regret buying:

Paula Abdul-Forever your Girl & Spellboud(a few songs on each are listenable though)
4 non blondes-I forget the name of the album, may have been self-titled (complete abuse to my ears)
Morris Day-Guaranteed (disbelief)
Madonna-Music(horable, just horable, except for "don't tell me")
Mariah Carey-Rainbow (the beginning of the end)
Apollonia's self titled album (what was I thinking?)
Vanity-Wild Animal (even back in my prince obssessed days I thought this album sucked)

Ma$e presents Harlem World takes the cake for all 10 albums. I sold it back in a matter of 45 minutes after buying it.

Pagey

The Jacksons - Victory...what a piece of crap.

Madonna - The compilation with all the ballads on it. I don't know what I was thinking...never been a big fan of Madonna's outside of her looks and Like A Prayer.

Prince - 1999 The New Master...Listened to once...now its in the corner of a closet with all my old 45's.

Paula Abdul - The one with U on it. Man, what a waste of $$...bought it for the Prince song...sold it about a day later after realizing the Prince song was ok and the rest of the album sucked ass.

Number23

When I was 11, my musical world consisted of two CDs which came with my first system - Jon Bon Jovi's Blaze of Glory and Meatloaf's Bat Out Of Hell 2.
A herd of wild horses couldn't drag my ass to the play button for those records now.

I'll second that one. 'Electric Circus' blew my fucking mind.

Anyway, back 2 the main question - I have bought nearly 400 albums and I can honestly say I have only fucked up once. It was Stabbing Westward's debut album. Can't remember what is was called but I really remember feeling shafted.

Apart from that, I've been really lucky. I've got a really good shopping instinct & very broad musical tastes. Stuff like 'N.E.W.S.' (abstract jazz) or 'Rainbow Children' (gospel soul) go down a treat because I've got other stuff like that in my collection which I love (along with death metal, avante garde classical music, techno, house, Afrobeat, hip hop, country, blues, et-fucking-cetra).

However, since I became a music journalist, I have been bombarded with shit CD's but that doesn't count because I didn't buy so I've not counted the stockpile of rubbish.

Anyone got any good recycling tips for CD's that ebay can't shift?
