Basement Jaxx "Kish Kash"

Just bought this sucker on the way to work and prolly won't have a chance to listen till late tonight...I'm SO excited this is out, their last one - "Rooty" - was a damn CLASSIC. And Siouxie Sioux does guest vox on this one? Oh, I'm SO THERE. drool

Anyone devoured this already??

I'm a huge fan, and while there are some good moments, so far this CD isn't that great. It's too much a continuation of the previous one, without much development. Check out the second track, the first one featuring Me'Shell, there's a bunch of Prince references (to "All the Critics..." for instance).

I'm far more looking forward to the next Felix Da Housekatt record...

Felix should be good...he was the best thing about the Fischerspooner show I went to earlier this month, and all he was doing was sitting in the audience. lol

I'll be happy when the new Daft Punk album comes out...the last album by DP complimented the last album by Basement Jaxx perfectly...that whole retro-flashy-Princey-ELOey vibe. Yum.

It came out today, to the best of my knowledge. I'd been hearing rumblings about it over the past couple of months, so I've been checking the wrecka stows a lot (I'm OCD like that)...

I've been able to listen to this now, and I am completely smitten with it. Y'all folks who are disappointed, all I can say is your standards are way too high for me. Maybe I'm just easily amused, but I'm absolutely LOVING this album.

Me'Shell is funky as all get-out, Siouxie Sioux's song sounds like something Peaches would do if someone gave her a shot of Ritalin, and the sounds throughout the album are just plain beautiful funky chaos.

It's a bit like 'Rooty', sure, but like if you injected Adrenalin into it (and 'Rooty' was not a mellow album by any means).

I'm all for this album. Yum yum.

It's been a few weeks since i listened to this one, but i rmmbr not liking it after a first listen - AT ALL. I gave it couple a more spins (well, plays) and while i can appreciate the funk in there, i still think it's a mess. Oh well, Basement Jaxx has never really been my thing anyway, so its prolly just me. :d

I've been listening to this for about a week now and while it does not have as many popchart orientated songs, the quality of the music is still there.

I dare any Prince fan to listen track 6 'Supersonic' - close your eyes and you would think you were at a Prince gig with Rosie Gaines belting this out...

It's a riotous funk filled fishtank of fun from one of my favourite bands of the moment.

Trust me - you will love it !

Cheers, Richy.

Alright, we're a week later, and i'll admit that i might have been wrong about this one. And i blame the first song (Good Luck) for my initial impression, bcause it makes my brain go in overload and the rest of the cd never really allowed it to go back to normal i s'ppose. But when i skip the first track or listen in shuffle mode, it's still challenging material, but also very good. Listening to it with headphones on volume 10 is quite an xperience.
