Your favorite album...

Speakerboxx or The Love Below?

My sister and I split the money to buy it only because I wanted The Love Below (I love Andre "Ice Cold"3000) and she wanted Speakerboxx (She is a true Hip Hop and Big Boi fan).

Other than Prince.

Right now I'll say De la soul '3 feet high and rising' 2CD Edition. But I'll probably change my mind in an hour. So many great albums to choose from, u know!

Anxiety

If you'da asked me when it first came out, there'd be no contest. Now that I've had a few weeks to chew on both discs, the answer isn't quite as easy. There are tracks on "Speakerboxxx" that bore/bug/trifle the bejeezus outta me, but there are also some DAMN good songs. While I think as a whole, "The Love Below" is pretty darn near perfect, I'm finding that it loses its freshness a little faster than the strong material on "Speakerboxxx"...so I gotta say it's a yin-yang tie, I luv 'em both.

Love Below

Speakerboxxx starts off strong, but then loses steam.

The Love Below. While Big Boi's album is an entertaining, Dre is trying to take Hip-Hop to the next level.

I think you're half right...it loses steam, then picks it back up around the end. That track where his kid is cursing up a storm, then that mid-tempo mumblefest afterwards, really bog the album down...everything before and after is pretty cool.

well i only listened to them briefly after i got them..i wasnt into either much..(i think it had to do with my stere breaking and not being able to enjoy it proper)..but like i said on some other thread its a grower.

andres disc of course was the first one i listened to...overall impression hes got good ideas and hes very creative...big boi's seemed to move faster than andres but has a few tracks it could do without.

Pagey

I bought this album after so many orgers where praising it so much. 1st, let me say I am not a hip hop fan. The only rap artists I have ever liked is The Beastie Boys. I am a white thirtysomething from the suburbs so I my thing is classic rock, punk, or metal. I was a teenager in the 80s so I happen to like Prince, MJ, & Eurythmics as well. BUT since everyone was saying Andre 3000 is the new Prince, I HAD to check it out. Also, I liked Hey Ya.

All I can say...I am NOT digging this album. The Love Below has good moments, but I am having a hard time liking it as a whole. Everytime I have listened to it, after the 1st couple of songs I am skipping to Hey Ya. I hear Prince-like stuff on there, but I can't say I'll ever become a fan of Andre like I am of Prince. I think I have listened to about 3 minutes of the other disc before turning it off...its simply not my pint of brew.
