OUTKAST-"Speakerboxxx" & "The Love Below"

These cd's r absolutely awesome. The cd introduces Big Boi (Speakerboxxx) and Andre 3000's (The Love Below) vision of music in the Hip-Hop industry and what it should really sound like.

Speakerboxxx is full of bass and hip-hop and The Love Below is filled with soul, funk, jazz, rap, and just plain ole goffiness. But in my opinion eye beleive that THE LOVE BELOW is the best. Andre croons like Prince in plenty of the songs, and also, some of the songs give a George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Earth Wind & Fire kinda feel. A recongizable song entitled "She Lives in My Lap" will remind u of Prince's classic "She's Always in My Hair". It also stars Prince's friend Rosario Dawson.

These cd's will definitly b a classic in the rap industry, fo' sho'. And eye will still hold on 2 my word that THE LOVE BELOW is the best cd yet. If any1 have these cd's please state ur own opinion.

Thanks for your input. I can't decide whether to buy this cd or not. I like OutKast, BUT I do not like rap at all. How much rap is on these two cd's and is there a lot of swearing? I know I would love the soul, r&b and hip-hop, but I do not want to hear rap or a lot of foul language. Can you tell me more about these cd's??

sad It's too bad your not a hip hop fan but since your not i really don't think this CD is for you because it's message for the current state hip hop is in!
But.. on the flip side of that if your willing to give hip hop a chance this would be a great starter CD - But again don't do it if your not gonna try to feel it though! lol

I do like hip-hop, it's rap I don't like. If there is only a little rap then I can take it, but if there is a lot, I won't like it.

unfortunately honey that's what i'm talking about Rap IS hip hop it's the main artery of the hip hop culture in other words with out the formation of rap there would be no such thing as hip hop.

The cd's do have alot of foul language on them, but u just have 2 get them. The only reason Outkast would really curse is if there was an absolute reason 2 do so. If u're in2 rap check out SPEAKERBOXXX. If u're in2 r&b, funk, jazz, rap, funny skits, and acoustic soul, check out THE LOVE BELOW.

this is something I disagree with. the use of the word "bitch" is unnecessary in two notable parts of the love below. i'm talking about in "god", when he says..."i just want a sweet bitch"...it does nothing to dispel the misogynism rampant in a lot of hiphop. the song "roses" is another example..."crazy, bitch, stupid-ass bitch..." etc...goes the refrain at the end...it's just not needed and doesn't add well to the song.

on the speakerboxxx album we hear big boi's own (very young) son say "motherfucker" to rapturous laughter. big boi seems proud, even.

You'd think with some of the other material on the album, that the OutKast guys would be more intelligent and not include this kind of unnecessary stuff. Kind of puts a damper on two otherwise very forward-thinking and enjoyable hiphop albums.

I think it goes well with the song. It's an angry track about a girl who did him wrong. When I'm angry, I don't mince words.

With Andre it's a general term for females and has nothing to with the character of the woman, or else he wouldn't tell God that his ideal woman is a "sweet bitch" toward the very beginning of the album.

Alot of music in this world ppl do not like. If u simply don't like the music, then simply LEAVE THE SHIT ALONE. 2 many ppl BITCH about many things that aren't that serious. They rather BITCH about music, than the cruel things that's happening in this world like WAR. eye do agree that having a little kid talk profanity is a bad thing (eye would teach my child 2 say that) but it's time 2 more on 2 more serious things.
