Martina Topley Bird's "Quixotic"

Former singer with Tricky, released her own solo debut a
few months ago and it's quite a brilliant little album.

Quite diverse and a bit low key. It's a rather silent and
intoxicating album.

Not very much unlike a Tricky record, but yet, a bit less
trippy and more organic.

Her vocals are beautiful as always. Her children are so
lucky to have such a voice to lull them to sleep at night.

I'm really interested to hear this album. I do love her voice on the Tricky albums, and it seems that she'd have a really unique style on her own...

She was one of the main ingredients in Tricky's music that made it work so well...

Don't expect a Tricky album. It is unique though. I really love it. There are many styles of music. The opening song sounds like it should be a part of a revival service. The next song is nothing like the first and so on. I recommend this album smile

Indeed, that opening song! I bought the disc and couldn't
wait till I got home so I popped it into the cd player in
my car and just kept hitting repeat on that first song
till I found myself pulling up the driveway having only
listened to that song all the way home. Amazing.

It's without doubt the best album I've heard that came out
this year.

Yep, must agree with everyone here, the album is fantastic overall but what are the record compant thinking by releasing 'Anything' as a single? Isn't it by far the weakest track on the CD? It's certainly the only one I hit the 'skip' button for.

'too tough to die' is the classic tune for me though/

Long awaited with huge anticipation. Her voice is so magical, seductive and trance like. I was not fortunate enough to ever see her live with Tricky but really miss their unique sound. Thanks for the critique everyone ~ I'll try to find it today!

Ah, yes, it sounds like a voodoo rite held on the

I knew it's been in the works for a long time and that Tricky was a part of it. I just didn't know it was available. I'ma have to track it down soon. She was one of the best parts of his first 4 records and tours.

Tricky features on one or two tracks but his involvement
in her project is far less than hers was on his albums.

And luckily for that, I like her solo a lot. Otherwise it
would have turned out to be just another Tricky album.

I knew it was out only cuz I saw her on Jools Holland a
few months ago. But it wasn't available over here yet so
I had to wait a little while longer.

She did a killer live version of "Need One" on that show
and she looked as stunning as she ever did that night.

i have to agree and say that this is the best album i've
bought all year. the last track 'stevie's (day's of a
gun)' is probably my favourite, i love the way it merges
from that minimal electro intro to a full blown orchestral
closer.

yep, she's good nod
