Wycelf's new cd is pretty good. I'm a big fan. I just got it last week and so far I like it. He's very talented IMO - As far as Ronald goes, most people that would buy his cd have never heard of Burt Bacharach, therefore are probably not sure what to make if it. twocents

hmmm, unless they only know Ronal Isley from his appearances in R. Kelly videos, then I think you're wrong. anyone old and crusty enough to be a fan of his would also be well aware of Burt Bacharach biggrin

I don't believe one would have to be "old and crusty" to be a fan of Ronald's music, but that's my opinion!!

Anyone who's seen the Austin Powers movies should know who Burt Bacharach is. Though in my opinion, once you've heard the Dionne Warwick renditions of the old classics, everything else is just gravy.

I enjoyed the Elvis Costello versions very much and Tony Bennet of course. Both did justice to Burts classics IMO.

the Elvis Costello album was mostly new songs written/recorded by the two of them, but the songs on there are instant classics!

I liked that album too, except for "Toledo" which had the most god-awful corny lyrics and would frequently get stuck in my head because its catchy melody.

Wyclef's stuff is always hit or miss. Usually 1 or 2 really good tracks and the rest just blah.

I do like "Industry" though, and just for the message, I'm considering showing my support by getting the CD.

Nooo Stymie!!Don´t let R Kelly stop U from
listening 2 the voice of Ronald Isley.
I myself have good hopes on this new 1 when he does
Bacharac. He´s 2 me 1 of the greatest voices in soul music.
I heard a radio interview with the superego David Ruffin
from the Temptation bragging about that he could
out do every singer on the planet with 1 major exeption
& that was Ronald Isley.

He does 2 many riffs & 2 many runs

The Ron Isley/Burt Bacharach collabo sounds interesting but I gots to save my money. Pretty intereting of Ronald to make one album with R. Kelly and one with Bacharach in the same year. Now that is diversity!

As for Wycelf, I have yet to get "The Ecelftic"(sp?) so I need to catch up before I get his new one.

There's nothing worse than a good hip-hop MC and mediocre geetarist who thinks he's Marley reincarnate. Wyclef's a talented cat, but he overestimates his musical ability and takes himself way too seriously. His talent doesn't overcome my dislike of him. So I don't buy his stuff anymore.

Ronald Isley doesn't get enough credit as a true singer. When I think about the songs he's done and the songs he's covered, teaming with B.Bach is a logical move.
