I`d like to add some more info to what Supernova wrote:
Donny`s roommate during the college years was a young cat from Chicago called Leroy Hutson. They ended up working together, but Leroy went on with Curtis Mayfield`s label while Donny signed with Atlantic. However, Donny used a song that Leroy wrote and turned it into a big hit: "The Ghetto". Leroy Hutson has also recorded "The Ghetto" but he didnt sing on it but played alto sax. Its a great version as well and came out -- I believe -- on the album "Hutson II". "Peace and Benz -- The future, made in Germany"

well,
i know hes AMAZIN!, legend from tha' start...i have THE COLLECTION and its sooo moving, my all time favorite is "someday well all be free"...taken from the Extensions of a Man- album* to me hes "ONE" of the greatest sung heroes of "black" music, he has a handful of awesome albums, some live, others studio-based, and then his tragic suicide. he makes me ponder on THE understood, and THE unknown, soulfully linking me to how i feel to who i am, to where im going, and wanting to be...HE's A MISSED PIONEER!!!...SOULBROTHA' a haunting influence, *... "ive always said, that if you have to ask for something more than once or twice, it wasnt yours in the first place"...*
