You've got to be fucking kidding me. I feel really bad for your ears. Wow.

Well check them out tonight (friday). Some people thought I was so lucky, and I just didn't get it. Darrel Hammond was pretty funny.

you know what? i tend to agree here. i mean, i work for a London venue company and when they played the Empire this year i just didn't see what the fuss was all about.
to me, they seem to be showing off all the neat gadgets they got on stage.
there's no vibe in their music. i can see it's very well put together and all (and so is Britney's music) but it just didn't do it for me.
the drummer played the same tempo all nite.
and what on earth is thom singing about?
altho, i do admit i love creep and fake plastic trees, i just can't get into them.

sad. i gues this tells it all... so you lost your interest into this band after they started to sound somewhat unique? Sure Fake Plastic Trees is a nice song, but its not even close to what they've done ever since. Thats something nobody else has done.

And they are at their best live.

Finally someone agrees with me! Radiohead are the masters of psuedo-profoundism. I'm amazed at how many people fall for it.

I lost interest in them completely after OK Computer. But I never liked them much anyway. I can't make heads or tails of their stuff. Sounds emotionless and boring to me. The only songs that I think are halfway interesting is Paranoid Android and Creep.

Radiohead is a really interesting band. They did alot of lengthy atmospheric segues between more traditional "songs" on KidA and Amnesiac, which seemed to confuse or irritate some people. These set the tone for the album, and work well when you're listening to those albums from start to finish as a whole, but they're pretty odd to listen to on their own.

I bought their live album that came out shortly after Amnesiac, and was less than impressed. The experimental sound effects they create in the studio didn't seem to translate well into a live performance. Electronic music, for example, is fascinating to listen to in its own right but theres no excitement in watching someone twiddle knobs live. Even worse is when they try to recreate a song like that with more traditional live instruments. Many times it just sounds awful.

If u dont understand Kid A and Amnesiac, Then u dont "get" or understand radiohead. but its okay, relax.. its not for everyone, but the people who do feel what these guys are doing, know exactly how great the music is...

U cant base a group like this on their freshman and sophmore albums, this group has grown into something im sure they didnt even think was going to happen, and the growing experience was in Thom Yorke. U can read the articles, and check his voice for the reassurance that HE was the real creator of the KA and Amne. period (which was one period) I dont even think the band got their fare share of playin in that period of the bands growth in music, it was thom who created that enviroment.

I don't really listen to Radiohead a lot but I saw them a couple weeks ago here in Atlanta and they are a great live act! It's cool that not every song is guitar/bass.drumz/vox all the time. Although having said that, I don't really find their stuff all that experimental. Miles Davis' electric stuff was experimental. Bowie was doing in the early 80's what Radiohead is doing now (Scary Monsters anyone?)

ok, I'm not saying anything bad about people who don't get into radiohead. I don't understand them, but I have nothing against them. I find there albums wrapped up with INTENSE EMOTION. Songs like "How to disappear completely" touch me in places music rarely does. The energy at their live shows, I find hard to match in the hundreds (or thousands) of shows I've seen.

Many people don't get Radiohead. That's fine. I don't get the Pixies. (another ultrahyped alterna band) But, I don't knock the Pixies. With all the following that band has, I know there's something there. It's just not something for me.

What I find amusing is people who have to slag on Radiohead like they are the most unworthy band ever. It makes me wonder. Do y'all feel insecure that you can't get into them and therefore have to rip them apart along with the people who dig them? Can't you just say "huh, I don't like em" and move on?

I am sooo sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings by saying that I didn't like the radiohead performance. I saw them sing a song live on Letterman and just thought it was not good. Like who you want to like. I was sitting with my cousin and we both asked, what is the big appeal of Radiohead, Coldplay and Nickelback? Maybe we are just getting old. I don't rag on the people who like these bands, I just feel that some people jump on the bandwagon. And when they get artist/album of the year on some critic's list, people trip.

In my day, I had REM. I guess, new day, new group.

Like in an earlier post 'they are mini-gods'??

I don't think ANY band or performers are mini gods.

I definitely agree with you as far as Coldplay goes. They're good and I like their songs, but all their songs sound like ONE song! It's a good song, but they all sound like that. Like I said, they're cool but people talk about them like they're the second coming of the Beatles or something.

It's always the same with people. A great band emerge and
get sick of all the attention so they decide 'enough with
this commercial bullshit we'll just do what we want to now
and make some weird ass music to get rid of some demons'.

First all the fans complain that it's utter shite, then
all the critics hail them as messiahs.

They refuse to buy into the hype and don't even release
any singles from the most talked about album of the year.

So people check them out live, where they provide a show
that's breathtaking and haunting.

People bitch. "They're showing off". Uhm, what about just
being good at what you do. If the show sounds great it's
not showing off, it's doing what you're good at.

With the new album they went slightly less obscure and
even pulled a few singles from it. Wrote some melodies
again, used some more guitars cuz that's what everyone
was getting so hung up about.

Once again, people complain 'they're too commercial',
'the lyrics are middle of the road, clichés'.

I just don't get it. When I saw them live I didn't think
they were showing off, I thought they were amazing. They
pulled it off neatly and left me wanting more.

They live boot from the Spain concert was 1000 times more
interesting and deep than any Prince concert I've heard or
seen in the past decade.

It's like dude comes along with the most stunning woman
you've ever seen and all of a sudden people go "who the
fuck does he think he is, showing his woman off like that?"

What should he do then, hide her under the floorboards?

Get real people.

One thing I can relate to is people stating that they don't
get Radiohead and like their song but just can't get past
that voice

lol

I admit, it's an acquired taste, but once it gets you up
and going, you'll never look back again.
