Cloudbuster is a liar! Months ago,he said that they were gonna re-master the Bee Gees albums, but I guess he made the whole story up.We'll give him this thread to redeem himself and to get his facts straight...BEFORE we kick his ass

That's what I heard. In fact just two days ago I was checking out some Bee Gees sites to see if there was any news but sadly no information was available. Maurice said shortly before he died that they were due sometime in 2004/5 but then earlier this year Universal said they were hoping to get them out before this christmas. So we'll just have to wait and see.

These are the albums I want the most...
'Main Course' (1975) 'Children Of The World' (1976) 'Spirits Having Flown' (1979) I don't even have these CDs right now! I have these albums on old, scratchy vinyl...lol...but if they don't get remastered soon,I just might buy them on CD anyway.Which means I would then have to replace them once they finally do get remastered!

I know what you mean. Considering that apart from The Beatles they're the world's most successful band you'd think that their back catalogue would've been overhauled long ago. But then The Beatles catalogue has yet to be remastered also.

Here's a cool article I found. It's from a 2000 Rolling Stone magazine story in which they picked the Top Pop 100 songs of all-time.27 of these songs were from the 70s,including The Bee Gee's "Stayin Alive"...
Song: "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees Album: Saturday Night Fever (soundtrack) Release date: December 1977 Peak chart position: No. 1 for four weeks (twenty-seven weeks on the chart) Songwriters: Barry Gibb,Maurice Gibb,Robin Gibb Producers: Barry Gibb,Maurice Gibb,Robin Gibb,Albhy Galuten,Karl Richardson In the spring of 1977,Barry,Maurice and Robin Gibb sequestered themselves in France's Chateau D'Herouville, the studio Elton John immortalized with 'Honky Chateau'.The Bee Gees were working on the follow-up to the 1976 smash 'Children Of The World' album when they got a call from manager Robert Stigwood, who needed music for the soundtrack of a low-budget film about an Italian-American kid who lived for disco. "Give me eight minutes, three moods",Barry characterized Stigwood's request in Rolling Stone months before the soundtrack's release."I want frenzy at the beginning. Then I want some passion. And then I want some *w-i-i-i-ld* frenzy!".The result,"Stayin' Alive",was written in two hours without the brothers seeing the film. With Barry nearly shrieking a lyric at the brink of incomprehensibility, the Gibb's falsettos released the agitation that John Travolta's cool suppressed, while a nagging guitar lick rode a steady drum loop lifted from another new Bee Gees track,"Night Fever".Shortened to a 4:43 and synced to the film's opening shot of a platform-shoe clad Travolta strutting down a Brooklyn street,"Stayin Alive" helped the 'Saturday Night Fever' soundtrack become the era's best-selling album.

27 weeks on the chart, eh! I remember reading somewhere that How Deep Is Your Love was on the chart for 33 weeks. Those kind of chart runs were pretty much unheard of in those days. Just goes to show how popular they were back in the day.

According to that article, the brothers were already working on an album when they were asked to compose the 'SNF' songs. So,I wonder if there is a "lost" Bee Gees album, recorded between 'Children Of The World' and 'Saturday Night Fever'? Also, the original version of "Stayin Alive" was eight minutes long! Imagine if we were to get a from-the-vaults album like this...
THE BEE GEES "THE LOST 1977 ALBUM"--- "Stayin Alive" (previously unreleased 8-minute version) "If I Can't Have You" (previously appeared as a B-side) "Shadow Dancing" (1977 Bee Gees version) "Emotion" (1977 Bee Gees version) "More Than A Woman" (alternate take) *unreleased track from 1977 *unreleased track from 1977 *unreleased track from 1977 yeah...I love to dream...lol

Me too. A Bee Gees version of Shadow Dancing would be kick-ass. I love that song. Have you heard Andy Gibb's 'After Dark'? That's a wicked tune as well but it almost sounds as if the Bee Gees are doing it themselves.

That's another great one. I wish his albums were still available. I should've picked them up when they were first issued on CD in '97.

another way to get me to spend money - I already have their whole catalogue on CD.
I'd like to see these released on CD - the Bunbury's album - the Hawks soundtrack (like to get the movie on DVD too) I'd love to get the 8 minute version of Sayin' Alive - I wonder why it was never released anywhere - like the Tales From the Brothers Gibb boxed set.
