Comfort Woman Just checking to see who picked up Meshell's latest...I copped it today and I love every minute of it. One of the most sensual and spiritual discs I've heard in a long while. This album is really getting me psyched for her concert here in Atlanta on Oct. 30th. It's unfortunate that she doesn't get any airplay because she brings it on every release. Meshell is a musical genius that has been flying below the radar far too long.

I plan on getting it - I hit the wrecka stow for the new Distillers album today, and just as I was handed my receipt and was walking out the door, I saw a big ol' stack of Me'Shell albums behind the counter, ready to hit the shelves. DAG!!!

I picked it up today, although I haven't played it yet, but sensuality and spirituality is just second nature for Meshell.
And yeah, I've been telling everybody within shouting distance about Meshell since her debut album a DECADE ago. Feliz Cumpleaños, Plantation Lullabies. The best album of the '90s, to me. æ [This message was edited Tue Oct 14 20:35:22 PDT 2003 by Supernova] This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I really liked it on the first listen. I imagine I will like it more with repeated listens. The first track to me is the best. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I was fortunate enough to attend the "Bitter" release party at the Roxy the day prior to the release of the album...
Last night I got the chance to see her play at Filmore...And damn this disc is working me!! Only got the chance to listen to it while at work...but, im on the verge of sayings its on par with "Bitter"... ps..ive never been a great fan of Plantation...some great tracks but it falls as a whole (for me)..but then im not a big funk fan...i love my meshell with a lil soul... Nice new feel for her...
Much of the same funk and soul, but more of a reggae/rock edge and definitely a marked stream-of-consciousness feel. Her compositions are so fluid now... almost as if she ditched paper and pencil for the spontaneity of intuitive jam sessions. Lyrically, it's apparent that she's at the most peaceful we've heard her. She's definitely found love -- of life; and that inspiration, instead of scorn this time out, is working wonders in her art.
