It gets a lot of spins on radio stations, even though it's not officially released. With a TV Special on CBS it will get a good chart position and thats everything he should be interested in.

I think it's just there to do a job. Radio friendly inoffensive ballad. Test airply on Urban and AC Urban so far is very impressive. Bit of throwaway fluff to linger about in the midst of the Top 50 before the real stuff starts happening... or at least I hope that's what it is.

How terrible the synths sound in the song... and this pathetic synthetic horn riff during the fade out.

Ellie, that's what I hope too!

The song is very good imo, even thought it is only a filler.

If you don't like Michael don't post in this thread. It hurts the people who do like him.

Exactly nod

It is just, as you said, a radio friendly song. It's like Kelly's 'Cry' on Vince, nothing special, just something people can sing along.

Sony needs something for the last quarter, MJ needs something to fulfil his contract and that something is called 'One More Chance'. I hope it is a first step into a big comeback. Not like other artist who go from door to door. whistling

Michael Jackson slow jams on Invincible were thee best. he should just release ballads as singles from now on, or mid tempo Adult Contemporary like "You Rock My World" at least.
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I agree!

I think MJ was fine.. but R Kelly's production & the hook were aweful! It sounded like he pasted it in there ..but clipped off some of the first word on the hook?? PLUS they just loop the hook.

I agree it does sound like some below average one hit wonder R & B Band from 1994

Too Simple.. Nothing going on.. Just Boring.. It sound like a demo of the song that is going to come out!

I would be surprised if MJ & R Kelly didn't do that song in 2 days..from start to finish

TOPS!

hey matty!
what do you think of OMC? im interested to hear your thoughts, seeing as you cant join in at mjni at the moment (please come back soon!)

personally when i first heard it i thought it was ok, but after 2.5 listens it became extremely boring and dull. i think it will probably do well with the general public, but for me if this is in any way representative of what his next album will be like, then spare me.

Although I like this song,I really hope MJ moves into a different direction on his next CD.He really needs to get away from all the "trendy" R&B producers, and make an original, unique album for once.At this point,a Michael Jackson rock album with lots of loud guitar would be a wise career move for him, imo.ANYTHING but run-of-the-mill R&B!

so true, he used to set the trends and now it seems like hes struggling to keep up with them. let alone releasing anyting remotely interesting or innovative.

Every artist hits their peak. Prince did in the '80's.

Yep, how many people peak for over 30 years without a single commercial and/or critical failure? I can't think of anyone.

I really like it. It's nothing amazing, but has a catchy hook and every time I hear it on the radio it reminds me of how much better he is than everyone else around at the moment.

I am fairly confident it'll be number 1. It has that YANA effect, but this time it's actually a decent song also.

Is it me or are his vocals sped up just a tad from 2:45 onwards (the last chorus's 2 fade)?

remember that BS about him having voical training for "2000 Watts"? bored

confuse

I think that it is not the most ground-breaking nor the most inspiring track in the world, however for some reason, it works.

I agree with the masses who say that he should remain wih the more slower cuts as "Butterflies" and "Break Of Dawn" have so proved as of recent times.

MayB this is his last ditch attempt 2 earn respect or cred from the masses hence the title "One More Chance" - an ultimate make or break of sorts or just a poignant plea not 2 be forgotten.

Whatever it is, I like this better than when I heard "You Rock My World Come Out" - that was an acquired taste, this track feels almost like vintage Michael - the ?uestion is... will it last?

'dre
Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

After the news that 'One More Chance' will have to compete against 'What More Can I Give' which is going to be released commercially this fall too under Clear Channel Communications/NBC fans will see an interesting race between those two songs.

Clear Channel Communications/NBC own about three quarters of radiostations in the US. lol

To me it looks like MJ is trying to force Sony to promote 'One More Chance' even more by putting 'What More Can I Give' out there under another label. I still dont think that 'One More Chance' is a real 'comeback' single by the King Of Pop this is just a fulfillment so he can rid of Sony.
