TERENCE TRENT D'ARBY

.
Just went over to his official site out of curiosity cause so many Prince fans seem to dig his music; some even say it's better than current Prince.

I LOVED what I heard, immediately. It took me back to the days when I heard "She Kissed Me" on the radio and how much I loved that song. He has a great, gutsy voice.

Anyway I decided I will get Wild Card, but I was wondering what else I should get after that? I think Symphony or Damn probably, 'cause it has a good review on All Music Guide and it has She Kissed Me on it.

Also, does he play all his own stuff on his albums? Or the main parts, even...if he's as good as every one says he is, I may even end up liking him more than Prince at this rate, from what I just heard of Wildcard!

Cheers,
despues.

U gonna love "Wildcard",
& also there R lot´s of cool stuff 2 download
on his site not available on any album, new songs.
He has not released as many albums as Prince
so U really should try & get them
Introducing the hardline..1987
Neither fish nor flesh1989
Symphony or damn1993
Vibrator1995
There R really cool stuff on all of those.
Interesting thing I´ve noticed with TTD is that,
just like Miles Davis said about Prince it changes
everytime U hear it.I still discover new things in his
music that I like.& it leaves U curious & want 2 hear
more.

Hey, if I am not mistaken there are 13 songs for free download that are not on albums, so you should do some more search on Sananda's site, you won't regret it lol lol lol lol

Yes, he writes his own music and lyrics, produces his music and plays most of the instruments on his records (sometimes even all). He's such a talented artist, it may happen that you end up liking him more than Prince, at least it happened for me lol lol lol

Well said Manki clapping
I think it's just a question of personal taste which album of Sananda/TTD you prefer, my favs are "Vibrator" and "Wildcard", but they are all fabulous nod

And like Prince's TTD'S / Sananda's b-sides are often even better than his album tracks lol

Just posted this a few days ago at the topic "Sananda's new song FREE to donwload": wink

I think you have to rummage around on the site, but for the most part, I believe they're all still up. It's a bit like going on an Easter egg hunt. [/quote]

Yup, you can find 12 songs to download and listen to his whole album as well.

To make the "hunt" some easier here some clues
Celebration
Mona Lisa's Laughing
Moon River
Birthdaygift
WildCard

Easy does it wink

There's a good "Essential TTD" anthology out, with a bonus disc of b-sides, live tracks and rarities if you can find it (thanks Rio for my copy!). This is a good starting-off point, and a good collection to own even if you have most of his stuff.

I'm kinda 1/2 and 1/2 with wildcard. Some of it I don't care for and some of it I love.

The song "designated fool" kicks some serious ass...

TTD = poser/wannabe

The worst kind of derivative music.

Some of his songs are good, but only because he copied someone else did it better first (i.e. Prince, MJ)

He is to Prince what the Black Crowes are to the Rolling Stones.

yeah i just bought hardline yesterday as my first ttd purchase. it was the only album of his in the whole mall! and i thought prince was hard to find!

i'm not so impressed with this album as i was with wildcard though...hardline has some bad 80s stuff going on. not the good kind.

but that song is pretty good, amongst a few others on there. i'm hoping his other albums will be better...his claim that it was better than sgt peppers is fuckin ridiculous and has kind of put me off since when i started this thread.

My recommendation: Ignore Herb4 razz & get Symphony or Damn as your next TTD purchase. Some really great songs on there, particularly Let Her Down Easy & (arguably his best song ever) Seasons. If he gets you w/ this album, he'll have you for life nod
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

co-sign lol lol it can't be described better than with the word "perfect"! It took me a while to get into it, but it is without a doubt my favourite album of all time by any artist

BUT, his other albums are great as well lol lol

Symphony or Damn...his absolute best album...by far.

Wild Card...almost as good as Symphony.

the debut...An extemely good and entertaining 1st try.

Fish or Flesh...a mess of an album with some really good songs.

Vibrator...A few good songs but never understood why fans love this album so much. It just doesn't do it for me...

I must confess I never felt his debut much either. I just don't understand what's so great about it. I did like "Wishing Well" and his cover of "Who's Loving You" though.

However, since the "Symphony or Damn" album on, I've been very impressed by his work. Especially the Vibrator album.

Damn right!

He is a very underrated artist, and his voice is just amazing. He may seem like a bit of a copycat with regards to some things, but overall he is excellent
