Da Band cd bebuts at #2 (shoot me now!)

OutKast staves off four top-10 debuts on The Billboard 200 to remain at No. 1 for a second week with "Speakerboxx/The Love Below" (Arista). Despite a 54% drop from its first-week total, the album sold just shy of 234,900 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, bringing its overall sales to 744,500.

The next three entries are brand new, beginning with Bad Boy's Da Band's "Too Hot for T.V." (Bad Boy) at No. 2. The group was assembled under the tutelage of rap mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, a process chronicled on the MTV show "Making the Band." The act's debut sold 203,800 copies in its first week. (How the hell did this happen? disbelief

Sting's "Sacred Love" (A&M) lands at No. 3 on sales of 194,680 copies. It's the former Police frontman's highest-charting album since 1993's "Ten Summoner's Tales" (No. 2) and a major improvement over 1999's "Brand New Day," which opened at No. 15. The new album's first single, "Send Your Love," is No. 34 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart.

Right behind at No. 4 is Dido's "Life for Rent" (Arista), which sold 191,580 copies. The British vocalist's debut, "No Angel," peaked at No. 4 in March 2001 and went on to sell 3.9 million copies in the U.S. "Life for Rent" is already a major hit abroad, having debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. album chart over the weekend.

Next time people starting talking about God existing, post this!
Did the Donna Summer hits collection even make a dent anywhere? I guess I didn't expect to go Top Ten. THe bad thing is that the spots between 2 and 4 were pretty tight so if a few more people about the Sting or Dido CDs, it would have been different. Who cares if people ain't got no taste!

The Donna Summer CD sold 11,619 copies in it's first week, debuting at Number 111 on the Pop albums chart. It's at Number 65 on the R&B charts.I expect it to sell steadily throughout the Christmas shopping season. It makes a great stocking stuffer...lol

If this doesn't show everyone that it has NOTHING to do with talent.. but who you know & mostly IF you sign away everything.. you will all of a sudden be a "star"

The MTV Show was GREAT!!! but none of them have talent! I was laughing that he got Interviewed on a Major NYC Radio Station ..BUT didn't even have anything done yet. They couldn't even get the band on the same page yet.. BUT they are getting promotion??

I know tons of musicans that can't even gte to the point of getting their demos heard.. not alone be interviewed on NYC Radio??? wow..

It is one big ego stroke! IF you sign everything away.. yeah we will give you pennies up front (don king style) Don always said if you show a poor person $50,000 in cash in a briefcase.. they will be more excited then if you gave them a Check for Millions.. (Don King has done this to every Boxer ever! Show cash they will sign anything) IF your poor you have No clue..The Record Industry is exactly like this!

You sign away everything.. they will give you pennies.. and then put you on Magazines, win awards,be interviewed.. BUT have no real money.. you signed everything away.

BUT in some sense I agree with the Record Companies when it comes to NO Talent Pop/Rap acts! They aint musicans they need the fake "award giving" push!

*** But what is wrong with The Public that Sean Combs can just wiggle in anyone's video.. and that means it is his seal of approval. Nothing New.. Nothing Interesting..

BUT like SHEEP people follow him like some Cult Member?

Being that I am an exec dir. of a music conference, let me tell you the mentality of an aspiring rapper. Most of them are so gased to be signed. We try to educate everyone, but a lot of times to no avail. I feel like some of them kids deserve to get jerked. They think that just being an artist and getting signed is the answer to all their problems. In fact, I've had thre acts become infuriated with me because they did not get signed at my conference. Didn't sit in on a panel, and didn't network. Just performed...and because a major exec is in the building they think they will find their pot of gold.

Bad Boy is jerking those guys. They go n choose their management who is puff's manager and executive producer of the making the band show. He is jerking them on all corners.

Sarah is the only one with sense. and after i step off my soap box, a lot of them kids deserve to get jerked because they don't read the literature on the biz or attend events to work...they expect a high school talent show.
