Blondie- The Curse of Blondie I just found this album as an Australian import. I've only listened once, but it's GOOD! I wasn't expecting much, since it was pushed back so many times, and I feared that it was due to poor quality. This is not the case at all! I'll give my formal review later. Let me just stay that the samples available on www.blondie.net do NOT do this album justice.

Better than No Exit? I thought that one was okay, though I honestly haven't given it a ton of listens since I bought it when it first came out...it was catchy, but kinda so-so.

I think it's much better after the first impression, at least. It's still too new to judge it fairly though.

It's kind of eclectic. A lot of songs rock really hard, while others are dance and some are really trippy.

It ROCKS hardcore! This album continues to grow on me. It's still fairly new, but my favorites so far are:
Good Boys- classic single. It's very dance-worthy and reminds me of a New Order track. Debbie busts out that "fabulous" vibe on it. Undone- soaring guitar rocker. The guitars scorch and the melodies just float. Golden Rod- ROARING! I'm pretty sure this song is about Debbie's past drug use. The guitars are FIERCE. End to End- anthemic rocker. It's got that descending "Moonage Daydream" like sequence that I love. The Tingler- TRIPPED OUT instrumentation to a gleeful song. Songs of Love- beautiful ballad to close out the album.

Thanks for a copy Ian! This cd is cool. So far my favorites are Background Melody, Magic, Hello Joe and The Tingler. But I still have 4 more songs to go. This album is way different from "No Exit".

"Diamond Bridge" is one of the best. Bluesy/rocky.

Impressions so far:
Shakedown- 5/10- it seems like an intro more than a song. Good Boys- 10/10- a new Blondie classic. Undone- 9/10- great melody! This is what pop/rock should be. Golden Rod- 10/10- perfect meaningful rocker. Rules for Living- 6/10- hasn't left a solid impression yet. Background Melody (The Only One)- 8/10- cool tripped out track! Magic (Asadoya Yunta)- 8/10- another cool tripped out track! Up there with "Desire Brings Me Back" for the title of strangest track on the album. End to End- 10/10- great anthemic rocker. Hello Joe- 8/10- nice druggy song. The Tingler- 10/10- psycho synth that works quite well. Last One in the World- 6/10- pretty much rock by numbers, but it works pretty well. Diamond Bridge- 10/10- is this about aging? It's got a lot of depth. Desire Brings Me Back- 9/10- Blondie brought out all the stops on this track. VERY WEIRD! Songs of Love- 10/10- beautiful ballad to close things up nicely. [This message was edited Tue Oct 7 12:26:08 PDT 2003 by Moonbeam]

The video for the first single, "Good Boys," can be seen at http://www.blondie.net if you go to the "Videos" link. It's pretty edgy and cool.
