Tony, toni, tone on TJ Sky Show!

Resently I've read much on the org about Raphael Saadig from "Tony, Tony, Tone" (excuse me if my spelling is not correct,) I have a few CD's by TTT which I found to be only fair musically, though I love the fact that they performed with a live band. As a big supporter of Envoge I was truly excited to hear that Dawn had joined Raphael in a project called "Lucy Pearl". After purchasing the CD and then listening to it for at least 4 times I was to say the least very, very disappointed. Since then I have not followed Raphael's career, until recently when I read about all the hoopla on the org about "T.T.T."'s return. Well how many of you just heard "T.T.T."'s performance on the Tom Joyner's "Sky Show" in Ind. on 10/3/03? They sounded absolutely horrorable, vocally totally out of key. At one point in the show, they I guess because of not having enough "worked out" material began to 'wing it'. I, as a performer myself could not find a reason for this poor performance. It wasn't so much as the band not being tight, as it was the vocal performance, inexcusable!!! Holla back if you heard this?

Back? I guess. But "together"? Definitely NOT! One time gig? Let's hope so, if not come back when they got their act together!

I didn't hear it, but I find it pretty hard to believe that The Tonies were not on point. Maybe they were, but they're too much of real musicians to not have their act together (unless Dwayne or Raphael was high or something...who knows).

I don't think they're getting back together, but I do know Raphael is releasing a live double album on Oct. 14th. I previewed some of the tracks on there and they sounded pretty good to me. shrug

I saw Raphael's show at Ruby Skye in SF A couple of months ago and the Tonys reunited for about four or five songs. I guess they were doing a small number of shows like this, all in California at the time. And they were excellent.

Sound system? Please! A sound system will not make you sound off key. Did anyone besides me notice that the Tom Joyner crew did not comment on their performance? That's because it was embarrassing. Plain and simple embarrassing! Let's see when they T.T.T. will be asked back on a Sky Show.

I heard some of it and could tell that Raphael could not hear the music. My husband told me that later in the show he forgot the words or the rest forgot to sing and he was like singing "...we gone work it out...we gone work it out..."

just keep in mind that every how can always be different from show to show. it could be that they just messed up, or that in fact, their sound system was messed up and they really just couldn't follow themselves. people who have done concerts before will also understand that there's always the issue of that ole devil monitor, that, should it be knocked out (or not adjusted properly) will render the bandmates completely DEAF to what they each are doing onstage, and therefore ubnable to keep in coresponding tune, pitch, volume, ect. i would betcha $50 that the quality of the show you saw had less to do with the performers on stage vs. the the poor sound guy or "the house" who mucked up a bit and left evreybody on their own "do their thang"...unguided and figuring out how to catch up with each other. when things are not going off without a hitch in a show, that flying on a ng and a prayer genuinely is the essence of performing...and it ain't by no means easy, either, lol!
