Well, maybe not BIG bowls of crack - Speakerboxxx is good stuff - but better than The Love Below? Crack.

yeah sittin tin that corner shakin 4 anutha HIT!

Anyway, i think this post was 2 just hype peeps up and make us mad. They know the truth though.

Big Boi is just a hip hop album collection of songs, which is not a bad cd at all, but Andre has a whole concept, and is musically mature.

other than both discs being one outkast release and hip hop, there is no real comparison. as always, it comes down to tastes. last night i was feeling the andre disc so strong, but this morning it was all about the big boi. they each do what they need to do.

I'm looking forward to knowing both discs well enough that I can make my own single disc with faves from both mixed together...so far though, I love getting to know both albums as wholes - THIS is what a hit album should be like!

This ain't even true. I love "real" hip hop whatever that is. I like both albums equally as well being a big OutKast fan. If you consider Andre's album to be a hip hop album you a looking at it in the wrong context. He has stated many times that this is NOT a hip hop album. Merely a collection of songs he has been working on for five or six years that didn't really fit with the OutKast image.

Andre co-wrote about half of the songs (particularly the best songs) on Big Boi's CD anyhow...

As for the topic, I love 13 out of 19 tracks on "The Love Below", while I only love about 8 or 9 out of 19 tracks on "Speakerboxxx". Both CDs are very good, but Andre's is a little more consistent, and on another level...

I love the song "Bowtie", it kinda sounds like what would happen if "Camille" sang on a song that the Gold-era NPG played on...

WHY IS EVERYONe RIDING ANDRE'S D*CK???
It's not that serious. Some of us don't want to constantly listen to that headwrap, back packer s#$t all the time. As for all of those who dog out the album...do you really LISTEN or enjoy hip hop in general?
ANyone listen to Freddie Foxx on this website? IF you do, I stand corrected, if you don't know who he is...I rest my case

I burn incense while listening to his album, but that's to cover up the smell of something else I got burning! biggrin

I actually dislike all of that...obvously I'm not talking to Freddie Foxx or Bumpy Knuckles folks. Just beacuse I'm not into the back packer scene all the time it places me in the other category? I was talking about true hip hop heads, and I don't think I am among many on this board, otherwise you would've recognized one of the hardest and underated MC's, Freddy Foxx. I rest my case

Hip hop is as diverse as its audience. Anyone who needs to dismiss people from "true hip hop" because they don't listen to an artist you or anyone else claims is the "authentic" stuff clearly doesn't get it.

That did sound kind of elitist... My point is the folks who enjoy it on all ends may feel a bit more strongly about the subject at hand. Being that I work in it and am surrounded by it, watching folks make a few blanket statements calls for my reaction.

Understood. My blanket statement was a response to yours re: backpackers.

Part of what has hurt hip hop in my opinion is the tendency among people to pigeonhole an artist or estrange them from the genre because they do not conform to someone's definition of what real or true hip hop is.

i just don't dig it that much after a few more listens. once the initial excitement wore off i kinda find it repetitive. and way too many "niggas" and "muthafuckas" for me. it gets old real quick...especially when you get your little kid in the studio saying it too.

and no, i'm not the moral police, its just my take on things. lol

I feel you completely. I thought I was the only one a tad bit disturbed by Big letting his kid swear on the mic. I'm sorry, but I'm just not for that and the shit is not cute.
