but hey, we cant all have such eclectic taste. lol

Ooops... gotcha! The fact that you have just said yourself that Jazz is eclectic must mean that Heavy Metal is not, right?

No Dave Lombardo could play a Wes Motgomery solo. End of the story.

Dave Lombardo is a drummer.

So I AM right! he couldnt play it!

ummm...

This actually shows that chemmie is right. My musical taste is to eclectic to know Lombardo.

Could Lombardo beat Elvin Jones?

By the way, I took guitar lessons from Joe Pass... he was the GREATEST jazz guitarist EVER, but he could not have played Superjoint Ritual's music because he NEVER played that style.

Someone once mentioned the GREAT Tony Williams trying to set in on a rock session and how bad he sucked when he tried to rock.

There is absolutely NO way that Curtis Mayfield could ever have played a Slayer song... it is just not his deal.

There are many examples of this, so the statements that Soulpower has made are simply made out of ignorance.

I totally see the point you are trying to make, but I dont buy it.

A player like Curtis and Tony shouldnt touch Metal because they have way too much feel and techincal brilliance to play it. Tell a basket ball pro he should play with amateurs and blend in .. it wouldnt work either.

I have to admit, I dont know too much bout Metal groups, their names, etc.. but one of my roommates years ago played that shit all the time, and I have listened hard (because I had to).

or just not eclectic enough. lol

there really isnt a style of music I do not like as long as the people show a little talent. everything from metal to punk to funk to hip hop to jazz to blues to noise to...

dont knock it until you know what it is about. there is a whole new world out there in Metal with wicked time signatures, backup symphonys and everything else. you can write it off because you dont enjoy it but dont disrespect.

wrong again. it's like telling a basketball pro to play soccer with Beckham and blend in.

I happen to be open to all music as well.
There are only two styles I cannot deal with... and that is heavy metal and techno.
Maybe we are defining heavy metal different... I have some mad respect for many hard rock musicians.

Metal to me is as powerful as funk. It's a mood. Specifically it's pissed off and really hateful. I credit metal for not getting me put in jail. Here's just a few albums and artists but there are a lot more.

Reign in Blood - Slayer

Ride the Lightening - Metallica

The Cleansing - Prong

Cowboys & Vulger Display - Pantera

Devil Music Vol. I - White Zombie

Black Sabbath

Rage Against the Machine

Some Judas Priest

Reign in Blood is the greatest metal album of all time. Now that Lombardo is back in Slayer I pray to the dark lord that they make another opus like that and give up on the crap they have been putting out lately.
