What REALLY happened between the Queen of Funk/Jazz and The Prince of Funk? I think she was mad that it did not get the promotion it deserved, but she only spoke kind of Prince in that whole book. She said she did a binge of drugging and drinkin again at that time..i guess P didnt want 2 c her like that... Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Donna was the undisputed "Queen of Disco",and arguably the most successful female artist of the late 70s.She was the only artist in history to have *THREE* 2-record sets reach Number One on the charts, back to back. Her life and career is filled with all types of dramas and excitement... ***After leaving high-school,Donna joined the cast of "Hair" and moved to Germany, against her father's wishes. It was there that she married, had a daughter and met the two producers that she would soon collaborate with: Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. The three of them went on to create some of the most unique, groundbreaking Disco hits of all-time. ***In 1975,she recorded one of the steamiest songs ever, the raunchy "Love To Love You Baby",which took many people by surprise. Her sexy 70s image paved the way for Madonna,Prince and others. ***In 1977,Donna recorded "I Feel Love",one of the first real techno songs! It was ahead of it's time. ***In 1978,her song "Last Dance" became one of the defining hits of the Disco era, even winning an Oscar for best song from a movie ("Thank God It's Friday",in which she appeared) ***In late 1978,Donna released a 2-LP Live album that featured a stunning version of "MacArthur Park" that left listeners breathless. It was another defining moment in Disco history. ***In 1979,Donna added a little rock to the mix on her 2-LP 'Bad Girls' album. That album took Disco music in a bold, new direction, featuring a guitar-heavy first single "Hot Stuff" that made critics take note. ***In 1980,at the height of her popularity, she became a born-again Christian. This came after years of drug use, personal turmoil and non-stop success, which almost led her to the brink of suicide. ***Also,in 1980,she sued her record label (Casablanca) and became the first artist signed to David Geffen's new label. ***In 1982,she released an album produced by Quincy Jones. This was actually a "replacement" album for a 1981 2-record set (titled 'I'm A Rainbow') that Geffen rejected. ***In 1982,Neil Bogart (the head of Casablanca Records) died of cancer.Even though Donna had sued him,his death left her devastated. ***In the mid-80s,there were vicious rumors that she made anti-gay remarks during a 1983 concert. She denied this, but the controversy dogged her throughout most of the 80s. ***In 1996,the rejected 'I'm A Rainbow' album was finally released as a single CD.

I'm not really that admirable of Donna, but I kinda respect the struggle she went through since she recieved alot of backlash back in the 70's frequently. I love her back-up vocalist, Loleeta Holloway or something, I 4get her name.
