Michael Jackson's greatest hits released NOVEMER 17 includes new track "one more chance"

Despite all of his travails with Sony Music, Michael Jackson still owes the label one more album, which he plans to deliver this fall as a greatest-hits disc. There will be one new song on it, though, and it looks like it'll be an R. Kelly track.

A premature press release, sent out by Sony Music U.K. and then retracted, revealed that a song written by Kelly called "One More Chance" was under consideration for the Jackson compilation, currently called Number Ones. According to a source close to the project, "One More Chance" was produced by both Kelly and Jackson, but it's still a matter of discussion whether it'll make the album.

Though the press release was retracted, the source said the information included in it was "close," save for the final track listing, since that has yet to be determined. Eighteen tracks were said to be featured, including "Thriller," "Beat It," "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," "Billie Jean," "Dirty Diana" and "Smooth Criminal."

Once the songs for the greatest-hits album are finalized, accompanying videos would also be compiled simultaneously in a DVD format, which may include "The Making of Thriller."

The U.K. press release gave a November 17 release date for Number Ones, but the source said it might not be released until next year.

Looks like a better tracklisting than "History". It's got those great "Bad" tracks that for some reason "History" ignored. Still, I might not bother. I'm trying to be smarter with my money. And I'm sorry but its really bad to have 3 songs with the same title. Micheal, do an upbeat track. The sappy "I'm sorry" shit killed "Invinible" (then again, so did the repeatitous beats of Darkchild...do whatever, I don't care).

you know, if they were smart, they'd just repackage the hits disc from "HIStory" (which has been released by itself since then), and make it a 2 CD set. that one disc stands alone pretty well, and having a second disc of the more minor hits from "Off The Wall" through "Dangerous" plus the "HIStory," "Blood On The Dancefloor" and "Invincible" semi-hits would make a nice companion. all the big hits on the one disc, and another one that says "oh, and here are some gems from back then, and the somewhat decent things i've done since"

oh well.

Once the songs for the greatest-hits album are finalized, accompanying videos would also be compiled simultaneously in a DVD format, which may include "The destruction of MJ's face" with interviews of surgeons, psychiatrist, a mask of Frankenstein, a fragment of Michael's nose, his fairy tales book and his new single entitled "I'm normal"

As it seems, this whole GH thing is just a Sony thing. This has nothing to do with MJ's new projects.

It is unknown what criteria Epic used in determining a "number one," as some of these tracks did not reach the top of any Billboard chart. Regardless, save for "Thriller," "Smooth Criminal," "You Rock My World" and "Break of Dawn," all of the previously released tracks did hit No. 1 on either the Billboard Hot 100 or the U.K. singles chart. The new album also repeats 10 songs that were on the 2001 album "Greatest Hits: HIStory Volume 1." The DVD compiles videos for most of the hits.

Missing from the "Number Ones" track list are "Blood on the Dancefloor," (a 1997 U.K. No. 1) and "Say, Say, Say," Jackson's 1983 No. 1 hit duet with Paul McCartney. The latter track was released on McCartney's Columbia album "Pipes of Peace."

Jackson has publicly feuded with Epic parent Sony Music since the release of his 2001 studio album, "Invincible," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 but sold a disappointing 2.1 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Here are the track lists for the "Number Ones" CD:

CD:
"Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" (Hot 100 No. 1)
"Rock With You" (Hot 100 No. 1)
"Billie Jean" (Hot 100/U.K. No. 1)
"Beat It" (Hot 100 No. 1)
"Thriller" (Hot 100 No. 4/ R&B No. 3 / UK No. 10)
"I Just Can't Stop Loving You" (Hot 100/U.K. No. 1)
"Bad" (Hot 100 No. 1)
"Smooth Criminal" (Hot 100 No. 7 / R&B No. 2 / UK No. 8)
"The Way You Make Me Feel" (Hot 100 No. 1)
"Man in the Mirror" (Hot 100 No. 1)
"Dirty Diana" (Hot 100 No. 1)
"Black or White" (Hot 100/U.K. No. 1)
"You Are Not Alone" (Hot 100/U.K. No. 1)
"Earth Song" (U.K. No. 1)
"You Rock My World" (Hot 100 No. 10 / R&B No. 13 / U.K. No. 2)
"Break of Dawn" (never released as a single)
"One More Chance" (new song)
"Ben" (Hot 100 No. 1)

I don't know if I should buy this CD.I already have those songs already, and if the new song is crap, then it will all be a waste of money. But the good thing is,this CD will fulfill Michael's Sony contract, and he will now be free to move on and do a new album.

Any news on the DVD and what it will include? Any chance that the "Ghosts" mini-movie will be on it?

Kind of surprised that "Scream" didn't make the cut since they are including some songs that weren't number 1s ("Break of Dawn"...really?). Still looks ok. I thought "One More Chance" was still in question. Is this from a MJ fan site?

from Billboard.com

Break of Dawn was my favorite track off Invicible but I have no idea how it made this set.??? Scream was great too. The title #1's makes no sense. At least Mariah's was all #1 charted songs. He still can't get it together
